Overwatch 'rubber banding', reloading map, and discconects

Hi all!

Been having a decent amount of connectivity issues over the past month. I’m using the same computer I always have (with no issues), but I moved a short distance and have the same ISP (Comcast), but a different internet plan / hardware.

The issues: I join a game, and can play as normal for a while. At some point, the game stops responding and I can move around for a little, but cant shoot anyone or do anything else (soon after the server stops responding, I start ‘rubber banding and cant move either’). Then the game disconnects to the black loading screen with an Overwatch symbol in the bottom right, and continues to load the map as normal (but with no background). Im placed back in the fight (often dead though), right back where I was.

I’ve gone through all steps listed online: reset router, flush dns, release IP address, etc, and I’m still having these issues. Is there any other steps I can take? I’ve looked at other posts on the forum, and plan on running WinMTR next time I’m online for a while.

Looking glass results taken right after a disconnect:

Thanks for any help you can provide!

Since the looking glass only captures one moment of your connection, it’s only good for major and consistent issues. You might have packet loss or some delayed hops on the way to Blizzard, so the WinMTR would be more useful in this case.

WinMTR instructions (click to expand/collapse)

This data request is for players connecting in the Americas or Oceania regions. Players connecting to European servers should post their test data in the EU forum for troubleshooting.

Share your results in a reply:

  1. Click the “Copy Text to clipboard” button after you’ve finished the test.
  2. Paste the text in a reply, highlight it, then click </> on the post editor.
  3. Break links by adding a space before .com/.net, so you can post them.

* Please do not remove full hostnames instead of adding spaces, as this makes troubleshooting much more difficult.

Are you connecting to your router via Wifi?

I am not, its a direct ethernet connection. I will try the WinMTR!

Edit : (12/03)

Sorry it’s been so long, the problem hasn’t been happening as much for the past month. I finally caught the issue on WinMTR.

To me, the only thing out of the ordinary is the 1337 ping time, but that’s the worst time.

Thanks Again!!
