So we got two events that showed us the past of Overwatch (Retribution and Uprising). That’s cool and all but why don’t we ever get information on what is going on in the current lore. It’s literaly “Overwatch is now illegaly trying to return”. That’s all there to it. Vishkar, Talon and Junkertown are all also underdeveloped. Wouldn’t it be cool to get an event that shows us what our favorite heroes are currently doing? Maybe some of them joined the reforming Overwatch, maybe some joined Talon to stop the return of such an organisation. There is so much space for development here, which character picks which side etc. Some cool skin ideas I thought of are:
Overwatch Side:
-Living Legend Reinhart and Torbjörn (they return to support the fallen organisation)
-Augmented Tracer and Augmented Winston (upgraded for combat with newer technology)
-Overwatch Agent Mei (she meets up with the remaining Overwatch agents and supports them)
-Overwatch Agent Brigitte (she joins the organisation she always wanted to join)
-Overwatch Agent Symmetra (learns the truth about Vishkar and betrays them so she can join a organisation that shares her ideals and beliefs)
-Overwatch Agent Lució and D.VA (join Overwatch for the same reason as Symm)
Talon:
-Talon Mercy (joins them to oppose Overwatch, she herself states that she doesn’t want the organisation to return in game)
-Talon Council Widowmaker and Sombra (they join the higher ranks of Talon)
-Talon Elite Moira,Doomfist and Reaper (just some upgrades)
Characters that don’t pick either side:
-Resistance Zarya, Soldier 76, Bastion and Ana (all of them don’t support either organisation but they want to make a difference, especially Zarya since she knows Katya’s secret)
-Shimada Hanzo and Genji (they reform the Shimada clan)
-Peacemaker Zeyatta (he replaces Mondatta)
All the characters I didn’t mention I don’t have ideas for. Feel free to comment what you think about this.
Mercy joining Talon doesn’t make sense, though. That’s like Nick Fury fighting alongside Thanos because SHIELD was too corrupted. Yeah, reforming SHIELD with all its previous members is probably a bad idea. But you don’t turn your back on the morals you joined for, especially when you’re still helping people in the current day. She’d probably be in the Resistance group, instead.
Yeah your probably right. Maybe Oasis would give her a spot in their council… idk really.
I have been wishing for a faction based game with heroes separated into 3 groups. This would be a persistent mode outside of comp and quickplay where the factions fight to gain as much control of the world by winning regions of inter-related maps.
Players would pick their faction at the start of a “season” and play the same throughout. So lets say, Talon, Overwatch and Resistance were the faction alignments. A group of Talon players could attack the region consisting of Numbani, Ilios and Nepal for instance to gain wins for their faction. Or Overwatch could be losing the area of Dorado and Hollywood and Route 66 so players would need to fight that area to regain it / push back whichever group was taking it.
Bits of lore could be tied to the alignments and fleshed out through the interactions between members of each group in-game.
