Overwatch report system

Hello everyone, my overwatch account has been recently banned. The other day I was playing some competitive games and things got a little heated in some of them. I completely take accountability of my actions of using profanity however i do hope to believe that a permanent ban is a bit overkill on my end. I know I am not a saint and that I have typed some comments with profanity but i have never typed any type of racist or sexist slur of any kind. The only relatively offensive thing I used was to tell some players to get off a certain hero as we were getting completely dominated. I sometimes get a bit too excited while playing and dont realize my harmful actions in the moment but should using a few cuss words really result in a whole ban? I understand it goes against the rules, but I have heard so much worse, especially in the competitive games I was playing! I heard 2 tanks tell me to “kms” and other players also using hateful speech and slurs, such as “reintard”. I’m not saying that I’m right for what I said, but it wasn’t half as bad than other people who have said much worse and have had no consequence whatsoever. I also played all day before the ban, in which I won 20 competitive games and climbed from plat 1 to diamond 2. I have spent a lot of time and money into this game and I understand that I should be more careful with what I do and say to not jeopardize my account but it was an honest mistake that alot of people can relate to. I am not asking for a full appeal on my account, but I truly believe a suspension plus a permanent com ban would be perfect in my case. I don’t mean to sound desperate, or like I have no consequences but is it really fair that I get permanently banned on this? I have even submitted a ticket and it’s like they don’t even take my description into consideration. I made a new account and I hopped on a competitive game. Mind you, when I started the account I was dropped from my original diamond 2 rank to gold, which makes me a pretty good player in the lobby. The first game I play and I am met with racial and homophobic slurs. I added both of the players who were making these comments and still, a few days later, they have not been banned. I was also accused of aimbotting and I assume I was mass reported because of that. Is it really fair that I get banned for a mild comment while people who make worse have 0 consequences?

  1. we here on the forums can do nothing. Nobody of import reads these. If you want some sort of change made it will be done through either social media if you’re famous enough or through appeal tickets on the Blizzard customer service portal.
  2. What others have done has no bearing on what you did. If you broke the rules and did so regularly, silences will turn to suspensions and if you continue they will turn in to a complete ban.
  3. That the account had money spent on it or is relatively old has no bearing on punishments. We cannot buy immunity from the rules with time or money.
  4. Others will be punished eventually if they continue to use unapproved language. The report system is not generally all that quick to apply. You cannot assume that because someones account still exists after a few days they will never be punished.

Good luck to you though.

I am assuming you had multiple suspensions in the past? Can’t imagine a perma ban on first offence for abusive chat.

A perma ban is like the final straw after chat suspensions, then account suspensions. You had ample opportunity to stop your behaviour, yet you continued. No pity from me.

Woke game. they’re desperately trying to make this “safe environment”, forgetting that the lack of communication is probably the reason why things get heated in the first place. It’s an endless spiral of toxicity, fake safety, no teamplay, no communication and results in more smurfs and alt accounts. really not smart of them.

that is the problem. ive only been suspended ONE time simply for standing up against someone who was using vulgar language. i usually never use chat until recently since i finally mustered up the courage to start playing competitive, and all i made was some callouts to help the team. i had no warnings whatsoever, i woke up the next day and saw i was banned. rip to the 2 thousand hours i had on the game.

Again, you had ample opportunity to change your behaviour, yet you continued. Maybe, with your new account, do yourself a favour and shut off chat so you don’t ban this one too

What does that have to do with anything?

Yep, see, that’s worse than a slur in my opinion.

That is definitely hurtful. They should be permanently banned as well.

Not really, no. I have never used terminology worse than slurs on my own teammates.

Yep.

I disagree on the whole “You had ample oppurtunity to stop your behaviour” thing. Before my main account got perma-banned for chat, I got suspended multiple times and Blizzard Support refused to even tell me what I said wrong. I still have no clue what I said that even lead to me being perma-banned XD.

Not saying that’s what happened with this guy; but sometimes Blizzard Support doesn’t even tell you what you said wrong, therefore it is impossible to “stop your behaviour” if they can’t tell you what you said wrong.

Lmao you get 2 more than 3 warnings before the ban so deserved

That was your sign to check yo self before you wrecked yo self, homeboy.

:muscle::sunglasses:

Telling the woke snowflakes the truth will get you suspended,no more chat ever for me.
I watch the chat but i never type cus i know it will end badly.

I got no warnings whatsoever only ever been suspended once like 10 months ago

Maybe if Blizzard told me what I did wrong I could’ve corrected the behavior.

In real life; if you ever got suspended in school you were given a clear explanation of what you did wrong.

If you’re banned from something in real life; you’re given a clear explanation why.

Blizzard Support just gives you the generic “Abusive chat” message and expects you to be a mind reader.

Nobody has time to send 10 Support Requests to figure out what you did wrong. Better off just taking the L and making a new account.

I am not sure if you are genuinely unaware, but they refuse to tell you because they want to meet their suspension quota. If people knew that you were not allowed to swear earlier, a lot of those bans that mark defense matrix a “success” wouldn’t have happened.
