Overwatch Random Hero Picker

Hi,

I made a random hero picker for Overwatch and would love to hear what you think of it.

It’s a regular hero randomizer/generator that gives you a random hero, but allows you specify which heroes you want to play and have the random selection be only between the ones you chose. That way you can get a random hero between those you want to play. You can also select new heroes to learn and get a random one between those:

My goal was to make something simple but useful. Also, the site has no ads.

Probably THE best contribution to the forums like… ever? Helpful, short and sweet. We definitely need a “?” In the hero select so that it chooses a random hero within the role selected.

Thanks Fotomik for that online random hero selector. This is exactly what I wanted, gives me a chance to try out new heroes, and test my skills with my usual ones.

Oh nice I love this! Sometimes I would just throw a coin in the air. This is better.

Instead of clicking the button, you can actually just press R on the site. It has exactly the same effect of clicking on the button and you can hold it to go quickly to a bunch of heroes and stop holding to pick one.

This is a hidden feature of the site, mainly because it was a last minute addition. In the future my plan is to add support for more keyboard shortcuts and will document them properly then.

Currently you can choose all heroes of a role by clicking on the “Select All” button on the role you want and making sure no other hero from other roles are selected. But do you mean a button that just selects a hero for a specific role regardless of the current selected heroes?

Very cool website, but could you collect information about how to counter heroes?

Then you could make:
Choose a random hero that counters the selected heroes.

In the future i plan to add a feature where you can save your own “hero presets”. With presets, you can save selections of heroes based on some criteria and switch between them easily, but you are still the one who decides the criteria (if any) of the preset and the heroes that go into each one. Essentially presets are just selections of heroes with a name you give. You’ll be able to make a “counter tracer” preset with the heroes you think counter tracer, but also make a “original 21 heroes” preset or any other you like.

I don’t plan to add the notion of hero counters to the site itself, because i think that’s subjective. For instance, does soldier counter pharah? Some people would say so, but a good pharah will tell you that if you chose angles to play and use the mobility “the right way” you actually have a small advantage over soldier. If i introduced the notion of counters to the site, i would have to force an opinionated view of the game on you, and i don’t want that. I rather have you selecting what heroes you think are counters to another than me selecting them for you.

That’s why i think presets will be a good addition to the site - you can save selections of heroes based on some criteria, but you are still the one choosing what heroes go into each preset and what which preset is about.
