Has anyone been able to play Overwatch on Linux? How was the experience compared to Windows?
Don’t know if he will respond to this thread, but Bootloxes is playing OW on linux.
I played it on linux for a bit. Lutris is a big help for it, but I had to do some extra tweaking. It was a bit choppy at first till everything loaded in, but it was fine after that.
Edit: Note that this was a year ago, so I am not sure what progress has been made on the lutris front for overwatch.
It should be noted that the game is not officially supported on Linux, some users have been able to get the game to operate on certain Linux builds that work like windows, however this is at your own risk and can be subjected to technical issues which cannot be resolved through Blizzard Support.
yep it plays fine, over the past year lutris has made huge gains.
between my windows 10 and Linux ( on PoP os) the difference is a whopping 4 FPS
with the same settings
now thats with nivida card
AMD has made there drivers public if you do a lot of gaming on Linux AMD is the way to go
on Wow ( i know this is overwatch) i get better FPS in Linux its not much but 7 FPS on max settings with both
You can combine lutris and steam proton together to make it run beautifully. Its made a lot of progress and now runs basically the same as on windows (just slightly less performance)
I use a nvidia card but i heard it runs even better on amd
Yeah, I tried installing OW on Lutris earlier by following your video, I swear I installed the AMD driver, but it still says I don’t have Vulkan. And as for Steam proton, I can’t find it, only OG Steam.
You have to do some digging to find proton. But once you do you can just copy paste it
