🥬 | Overwatch needs its own Cabbage Man

Overwatch is great because it’s a game with 30 special protagonists. Even the side characters we don’t often see are all very special, and they’re all probably in the up-n-coming hero lineup. That being said, what Overwatch is missing is a lovable NPC.

Someone like him…

Cabbage man from the popular series Avatar the Last Airbender was an average old man who led a simple life of selling cabbages; hence his name Cabbage Merchant. Despite his very lackluster appearance, C.M. was loved by the entirety of the Avatar fandom. Why? Because he was a reoccurring NPC who we had grown attached to over the course of the series. We watched his struggles and successes in the cabbage industry, and it gave us a perspective on life outside of the protagonist’s POV.

This is what Overwatch needs.
We need to see what life looks on Near Future Earth outside of the Overwatch/Talon squabble. We need a window to look out of to see that there is more to Near Future Earth than a prison of genocide, fratricide, and goats.

And to save Blizz the time and energy to come up with a new character, I already have the perfect candidate in mind:

His name is Greg. You might remember him from the Alive animated short. He works as a vending machine repair man, and he’s in a healthy and loving relationship with his girlfriend Suzie. I want to see more from Greg and Suzie. I want to know what their plans for the future are. I want to know if they plan on building a kid. I want to know if they have a pet Roomba. These are all important things we as a playerbase need to know if we want to understand the world of Near Future Earth better.

I truly believe with a lovable NPC that we can follow the lore of, we can grow as a community and become better, less toxic players.

Thank you for listening to my rant. Have a nice day!

Actually a plant based hero would be kinda cool. A scientist who can control plants as weapons and tools would be dope. They could make them almost druid or witch like.

Greg could own an omnic plant that gains consciousness and becomes a playable hero. I’d be fine with that!

Either you didn’t actually read the op or I just got hard wooshed, but I can’t figure out the woosh.

The world is about interpretation and compromise.

I bought a woven poncho from a, um, hippie store, and it smells funny. (:

I was imagining the actual cabbage guy from Avatar being in Overwatch himself. He’s had enough of people destroying his cabbages and he’s back with a vengeance! But yes, heartwarming, comic relief characters are great and Overwatch could use more of that.

Are you saying he joins Talon? :frowning:

No, no, he can be like cabbage Batman. He’s on the side of pure cabbage justice!

Does he have a cart that I can destroy?
And when it dies he says “MY CABBAGES!” ?
If he does, I’m on board. I’m going to make this man go bankrupt.

Blizzard got a lot of type of hero and character concepts.I’m sure the design team and Geoff already prepared a lot of it,but to release them on the live game it’s like a snail.

We need more vegetable representation in Overwatch, everyone has their groups represented, but plants. If Blizzard doesn’t add them to the game, they’re vegetophobes.
