Overwatch needs a role tutorial

I’ve seen countless tanks think they’re dps
I’ve seen cowardly players hide despite being a tank
I’ve seen countless supports ignore doing any form of healing because they think they’re dps or tanks

Overwatch needs some form of tutorial on how to play your role. NOT YOUR CHACTER, BUT YOUR ROLE.

Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t think i Should have to ask for healing 6 times while also jumping in you line of sight JUST to get some healing. Wake up and understand what you should be doing.

A role tutorial would not be nearly as helpful as you would think… as with all three roles they have sub roles…

For tank theres, dive tanks, disruption tanks, barrier tanks, and sustain/brawl tanks…

Supports have “main healers” (high single target healing output) and off healers, who put out less rapid healing but generally offer other utility…

Damage at its most basic is hitscan and projectile…

Part of me wants to argue, but i think your right.

But i do still think some form of tutorial would be helpful, even if its the most basic type;
tanks can soak damage
dps can kill
supports can enable your team

I do understand each role can be broken down further, but it always feels like the basic function of each role is lost on players

What is there other to do than killing anymore for tanks? If they dont go in do dmg they wasting a lot of resources.
Most defences are also more of self defence than anything else now.
So no wonder they are played as dps.

I think PVE will basically be a good tutorial for a bunch of people

Those who want to learn and grow as players will, i dont know everything but im more than happy to help those who are…

Sadly many do not want to learn and grow…

An oft-asked feature over the years and one repeatedly ignored by Blizzard.

What are the 5v5 roles? Fat DPS, DPS-DPS, and DPS with sustain?

It’s poor tank play to just soak damage, controlling space would be a better lesson.

Sombra and Mei aren’t specialized in/best at killing, necessarily, the DPS role is too diverse to one-size-fits-all it.

Probably the best definition of support, but there are still issues, and that looks very different for Lucio vs Ana vs Zen.

I’ve actually started throwing on tanks by going full aggro. Yes, charging straight into the enemy headon instead of protecting the team was what i considered throwing in OW1 so if i wanted the game to end quickly, that’s what i do. No tactics, no strategy, just go in shooting and swinging.

Except rather than throwing the game, i kept winning. Especially if there’s a kiriko.

Tanks protecting the team is a mentality that ended along with OW1, in OW2, tanks really are meant to be played as DPS.

The supports still have their heal rate from before, but the amount they have to heal dropped by 500hp. The heal rate at the end of OW1 is made to be just enough to sustain two tanks. In OW2, you have the two tanks worth of sustain being dropped on the single tank, your tank is not going to get punished for going aggro.
