Overwatch League Offseason Predictions

Just thought it would be fun to go through some random hot take moves during the off season.

Atlanta Reign:

After a dissapointing season the Reign look back at what went wrong. They conclude that they had issues integrating their new signings into their existing roster. They need a proper leadership figure on the team to replace Babybay more effectively, but are confident in their multiple vocal players. Atlanta loses confidence in frd, as he was unable to play roadhog sufficiently for the team to use him in double off tank compositions. Atlanta continue to see potential in the majority of their roster, dispite being dissapointed this season’s performance. They make the following changes:

  • frd released from the team
  • Molf1g signed to off tank from British Hurricane
  • Ebion signed from British Hurricane as an assistant coach

Boston Uprising:

After a disaterous 2020, Boston is left in a difficult position. Their brand is synonyms with low bugets, internal issues, and crippling missmanagement. None in their right mind want to sign to this team as a player or staff member. Boston’s options are slim, but they know they need changes. They procede with the following:

  • Neil signed to main tank from Dignity
  • Bertlog signed as main support from Ground Zero Gaming
  • Winter signed from Bilibili Gaming
  • LeRenegat signed as assistant coach from Uprising Academy

Chengdu Hunters:

Despite Chengdu’s low placement, they continue to be a widely loved franchise known for whacky strategies. The team decides to make relatively minor signings in the offseason, building on existing strengths. Changes are as follows:

  • Gaga signed as main tank from Team CC
  • Mijja signed as flex dps from The One Winner
  • Nohill signed as assistant coach from Team CC

Dallas Fuel:

After another below average season Dallas decide to make major changes and have the money to back it up. Thier scouting is alright but highly cost inefficient. Internal issues continue to plague the team as management seems to have a fundamental disconnect with their korean players. Doha requests to be traded, which Fuel accomodates. Changes are as follows:

  • Doha traded to Paris Eternal as flex dps in exchange for Nicogdh and a cash bonus
  • Unkoe released
  • Trill released
  • Closer released

  • Krystal signed as flex dps to full contract
  • Over signed as main tank from Bilibili gaming on a two way contract

Hangzhou Spark:

After a miserable season the spark are incredibly dissapointed. They decide that the coaching staff is to blame for the incredible amount of wasted potential and decide to continue the overhaul that was already in progress. They continue to believe in their players, minimally changing the roster.
