The problem seems to be that as the season has progressed it turned out that that only a handful of teams were actually competitive. As a result we’ve ended up with a situation where the team records are so lopsided that most games are meaningless as this stage of things.
The closest thing I saw to this in real life sports was the failure that was the XFL. Yes, the antics and questionable content were big turn-offs, but the real problem was that the talent pool was so thin that only three or four teams were winning with any regularity. Overwatch League needs to grow in that respect.
Bet you’re fun at parties.
So people want this to fail? Kinda thought as a community we would want something like this to succeed
I’m not a fan of Overwatch League, but I don’t want it to fail. I’m pointing out what I think is a weakness of the league, and the reason for declining viewership.
And I’m lots of fun at parties, thank you.
Apologies I meant to reply to the OP.
You actually made good points.
Many do not realize just how many resources are pulled from the good of the game to prop up OWL
I wasn’t talking about you, you were at least being constructive. The XFL does come to mind on occasion when thinking about the OWL, with it only being the first season I’m sure the will iron out some problem and get a better feel for the next season. It’s seems at least successful enough to get past the first season
I think another reason for this is the OWL teams are playing on an old patch of the game. If they were caught up and were playing the most recent one it would be more exciting and the strats would be more applicable to our own games.
There needs to be more hype, more drama between players and more bond between the players. We dont want drama like the disgusting and the petty ones. We want a proper rivalry. OWL lacks hype. Watch a csgo majors game and watch owl game. You will notice the difference.
I stopped watching OWL a long time ago when I started predicting the characters that would be used on every map, on both offense and defense, from both teams.
Can’t handle the constant mirror matchups.
I think it’s is natural that the viewers are down after each stage.
The first stage I watched every match and found out who everyone was and who I wanted to follow.
Now I only watch 2 or 3 games a week but have lost no interest, I actually joined a competitive league after been inspired by OWL.
I’d rather they spend more time on making a fun game for us 99% scrubs.
Yeah I stopped watching soccer because it’s just the same players…
I honestly stop watching 3/4 of a stage in because of it.
Yeah cause real sports with athleticism is totally the same as a video game where only 1/4 of the characters are ever played.
It should be better after Brigitte joins the lineup. The only constant hero pick I can imagine is Brigitte lol
The XFL failed though.
It’s not totally the same but easy to draw comparisons.
I watch Philly a lot and Carpe and Snillo both play tracer. Except the gameplay is nothing a like.
Yeah I know. I was agreeing with a point somebody else made about how if the OWL doesn’t improve they could end up like the XFL
