" I paid my 40$, I should be able to play whatever hero I want. What? becoming competent at multiple heroes? Increasing my mechanical proficiency? Actually learning how to play the game properly? What do you take me for, some kind of loser?"
So whatâs the problem here?
Exactly.
Sadly we are living in the age of entitlement, where people demand change x and y and refuse to improve because the effort takes away time from their instagram.
Donât worry though, most people like that wonât be successful in real life either.
Holy moly. Finally someone who gets it, I havenât really met that many people who believe this but right now we are in an age of entitlement agreed, all people do now really is complain rather than be happy with what they have, and they crave more because they feel like they are owed something when in reality itâs never gonna be like that. In the real world, you can get something taken away so fast at the blink of an eye just as fast as you got something. Thatâs what my parents taught me.
I think⌠he is salty other people are not switching to accommodate his picks.
Just my guessâŚ
We live in a time with a lot of special snowflakes.
âThis hero beat me so he is OP and not fun to play against! NERFâ here and âYou offended me by saying something totally inoffensive! Iâll report you!â there.
Nowadays youâre not allowed to show emotions in a competitive environment and nobody really wants to improve or look on himself.
Dude, I play main tank. I accomodate everyone.
The problem is, there is not a brick wall but the Grand Canyon between qp/solo queue comp and OWL/high elo groups of 6 comp level gameplay. And 95% of the playerbase sits in the first one, and guess what, a game designed for 5-10 minute matches wonât get as much of entitlement regarding learning strats and mechanics as a MOBA where you are spending 30-60 minutes on a match.
Learning the game properly in a fast paced game might work for CS:GO, itâs kinda annoying to re-learn the game every time the meta changes and Blizzard tweaks heroes.
If someone wants a certain healer/tank he can switch himself. If you want a classic 2-2-2 setup use LFG. And i paid 20$ for this game, i can play what ever i want.
Good, the git gud mentality is dumb. This is a game, not a job.
How to git gud in Overwatch:
- Play the game
- Get killed by any hero in the game
- Go to the forum and ask for a nerf
- Hero gets nerfed
Congratulations! Youâre now a member of this community.
they should have copied paladins competitive 1.0 and taken it a step further, heroes have their own levels and before you play competitive you had to have mastery level on certain numbers of heroes. in ow make that 3 but one in each category.
It only doesnât have this mentality because there are âeasyâ heroes and âhardâ heroes. If every hero was âhardâ, then itâd be different. Or, at least, if every hero actually had potential, a skill floor and an infinite skill cap.
Itâs what happens when you have an MMR system and separate your player base by a performance rating.
If the MMR is properly tracking you, you will be constantly put in games where players are about the same skill level.
In previous FPS games iâve played, in a 16v16 game, only the top three of either side is actually playing for real, the rest are cannon fodder. In Overwatch, all the members in your team are at the same level as you so you donât stand out, which means you donât have to carry the game.
What this also means is that it discourages you from seeing any kind of personal improvement. As Jeff said in an interview, where he was told about a players frustration, he replied that even tho the person was losing game after game, heâs actually improving compared to when he started. So he may end up with a negative win rate, but the MMR will still put him against stronger players, disregarding the fact that heâs not actually winning games.
Thatâs not really encouraging.
It doesnât matter how well (or badly) you perform, the MMR will always put you in games where your odds of winning is 50-50. Whether youâre playing seriously, or just fooling around, the game will ALWAYS put you in 50-50.
Why would you play your heart out if youâre not going to win any more games than if you were to just play for fun?

This. So well described.

Too true.
I like you.
I like you too.
I like you x3.
You are cool as well.
I like you x5.
I wish there was a friend button on the forums. And like all of you said: Easier to cry and demand X hero be buffed and Y hero be nerfed instead of actually adapting. Too much work.
Good thread. Would +5 if I could, but hereâs a
