Overwatch just dropped off of Twitch front page for the 1st time

If you think that the hidden profile thing is to blame on the ‘‘Evil Triggered SJW’’ you are really playing on Blizz hands lmao

They did it because they dont have a solution to the boosted/smurf account issues without losing money, thats the real reason behind the change.

If you think that people care about Blizz replacing ‘‘gg ez’’ with a stock line as a jab to toxic and arrogant idiots then maybe you need to go outside to breath some fresh air because no one is going to really care about not being arrogant in a casual video game enough to stop playing if they actually like the game.

“GG Ez” is probably the least “toxic” thing I’ve heard others say at the end of a match.

Blizz does something to reduce the toxicity in the game (or at least supposedly aimed to) and some people take it as ‘‘censorship’’… maybe the truth those people take it as censorship because they are toxic?

Nope, toxicity can be managed and kept at a low point, but in order to do so you need a clear rules and strict and fast punishments from the very beginning.

Both were extremely lacking since the beginning, until the point Blizzard suddenly started to care after doing nothing for over almost 1 1/2 years or so, because the toxicity reached a boiling point in this game.

I’m actually in favor of the new profile hiding feature, if that’s what you meant.

The only people vehemently against it are usually Hanzo/Genji mains w/ a 30-odd percent win rate who are just bitter that they won’t be able to dump all over their teammates anymore.

cmon guys, lets be honest here… OW is not a pretty game to watch… it fun to play, not watch. OWL is only popular because blizz invested alot and they are giving free skins if you watch it…i tried…not good, never again.

Overwatch’s toxicity was/is far from reaching a ‘boiling point’. WoW used to be 100x worse, especially in the Heroic raiding scene back in the day. If you think you’ve seen a rotten/heated team argument on here…you should’ve seen what a full sized Heroic raid group’s chat looked like after 4 wipes.

When HoTS has more viewers LUL

I agree with that assessment actually. I just couldn’t watch OW since beta.

But the thing is, LOTS of people watched LOTS of it.

Remember the days of beta Onlywatch? OW was always the top 3 games being played. Even after launch, throughout 2016 and even into 2017/first Anniversary, it was always way up there.

Things come and go I suppose.

Of course Overwatch’s toxicity reached a critical boiling point in the past, because Jeff Kaplan made specifically one video on Youtube to only address this topic: “Play nice, play fair” in a first, futile attempt for improvement.

The official content summary was: "Game director Jeff Kaplan discusses the rise of in-game toxicity, the Overwatch team’s current plans to help reduce it, and ways that players can contribute. "

You are not doing such a video for such a big game, if it is not absolutely necessary, because this almost gives only bad press coverage, when a game developer is admitting that

  • there is toxicity, even worse a rise of it in its game and
  • it is a real problem.

It’s still up there. You just fail to notice whats going on. Lots of things take views from games. E3 for example. OW and CSGO have been pretty equal as of late, and I think they will continue to be for some time.

Its unsportmanlike, and Blizz wasnts OVW to be taken seriously as an ‘‘e-sports’’. You dont mock or act like an arrogant idiot on actual sports by telling your opponent that the match was easy, even if it was.

Its not that hard to understand dude.

How many players make up the “e-sports” scene? A handful of teams? That’s a far cry from the majority of the people just playing it for fun at home. One of their ‘e-sports’ players is known as the most toxic player in the game.

I could frankly care less about OWL or the “e-sports” scene. I just want the game to have a healthy player base, and to be alive for years to come.

OW hasn’t been top 5 in a long time. The only time it’s top 5 is during OWL broadcasts.

Fake News. I just pulled up twitch and its right there.

True, but who cares about top5? two of those are boring battle royale games most of the time. I’m saying OW has a healthy viewerbase, which equals CSGO. For the genre it is in, it’s doing well. For a 2 year old game, its nice that it’s even still steadily in the top 15 most of the time.
I’m more excited to see how the battle royale games look like on twitch in 1.5 year tbh

I am ready for that fad to be over.

And yet you somehow think that Blizz removing the ‘‘gg ez’’ replacer and the whole attittude behind it is going to do anything positive at all? Thats literally the opposite of making the game have a ‘‘healthy playerbase’’. A healthy playerbase couldnt say ‘‘gg ez’’ because its demeaning the opponent and little else.

They’ll look a lot like H1Z1 does right now… barren.

I agree with this.

For good or for ill.
