Overwatch is using 96 GB? huh?

How big is this game supposed to be 96GB on my precious NVME SSD! Wut wut!

Have you seen the size of Activision’s Black Ops 4? It don’t even have a campaign and is like 2-3 times larger than Overwatch.

Don’t ask me. I have no idea why these games are this big these days. I remember when 1 GB was unthinkable.

Stop being poor and upgrade to 2tb.

There’s politics that function around this philosophy.

Its only 25 gb on my SSD

Not enough lanes for a second one?

Are you sure you’re not including all of the different clients?

For example, for me the PTR + OWWC Viewer is just under 50 gigs, with the base game being just under 40. So combined with all 3 different clients, it’s close to 90.

Game are going to require more memory as time goes on but memory has been getting bigger every year like we coming to the point where 1TB is small that’s where we heading I remember back in ps1 and ps2 days where 100mb was considered big lol

Yeah OW has this issue after almost every update major update. It just inflates for no reason whatsoever. Just remove the game and re-install it and it will go back down to 20GB.

Maybe your install is messed up? Mine is 40 gigs and that’s counting it’s cache folder.

Well, if this helps:

I once had 42GB folder size for Overwatch due to updates over a year. After trying different things I gave up and deleted the folder entirely and reinstalled the game.

Now it sits at 17-18GB.

And sadly 60% of that content are not accessible in any way because it’s locked for almost a whole year until the event restarts.

So the PTR is 22 GB and the main game is 96GB something is up. Their needs to be garbage collection.

As I test I installed Overwatch on a laptop, this with all the updates only 18.5 GB. This leads me to believe that updates simply copy the existing game content and do not remove old files.

18 GB here…

just 18 gb here lmao

My Overwatch/data folder is 45GB, ptr and retail sit at 190 mb each.
I uninstalled and reinstall is only downloading 18GB so that’s interesting

Clearly a well coded game
