Overwatch is totally infested with HACKERS!

The infestation is real! Overwatch is overflowing with hackers everywhere! Even Quick Play and Arcade modes are completely filled with hackers wreaking havoc and chaos!

There are way too many Widowmakers killing everyone with quick scope even when she’s out of position, moving or even in mid-grappling hook! Too many McCrees killing people from long distances with one shot right after they turn a corner! Too many Tracers and Genjis that doesn’t miss a single attack and don’t ever die! And many Soldiers that are ulted all the time that track enemies perfectly without missing a single burst!

I’d understand and reconsider my analysis if I were talking about above platinum players but regarding below level 100 and bronze-silver tier players, that’s obvious hacking! If they were that good, they would be much more experienced and better ranked… Come on Blizzard, this must be stopped!

Now. I know there has been an uprise since a new hack’s recent release but I’d hardly say its infested. Since the hack’s release I’ve seen about 3 and 2 of them have already been banned from reports.

I dunno if I’m just incredibly lucky, but out of the 700+ hours I’ve spent in Overwatch, I can only think of one… maybe two instances where I genuinely thought another player might be hacking. Not saying it’s impossible, but it certainly doesn’t seem to be an epidemic in my experience.

Those are called smurfs my friend, you listed totally normal things that anyone above high gold can do consistently. Hell, even new players coming from different fps games will out perform silvers and golds with basic knowledge

Here’s the thing. Hackers are not common. But they’re not uncommon either. I’ve seen at least 5 in a 4 month period that I knew for absolute that it was a hacker. Blizzard thank you and all.

So it’s entirely possible that some unfortunate people run into these few hackers all the time, while others don’t. That’s just how the RNG with match making can work sometimes.

So please, don’t just dismiss people saying that they’ve seen an uptick, or that they’ve run into enough to frustrate them. I myself have run into smurfs and hackers equally and there is definately a difference between a hacker and a smurf. At least one of those can match their aim with a decent amount of game sense, positioning, ect. You can have the best aim in the world, but if you suck at positioning, that aim will only get you so far.

I clicked on this hoping to see a joke post about the rise of Sombra since Baptiste’s release… extremely disappointed.

But no. Overwatch isn’t infested with hackers. It’s actually so rare to see a hacker in game, and it’s amazing.

If you want to see a game that is actually infested with hackers (at least, back when I played before Overwatch was released) turn to TF2. That was what an infestation looked like. Anyone else remember the heavy that spun around at top speed hittinf every single bullet and melting the enemies? And how even when kicked they would somehow rejoin and avoid vac bans? Yeah that was crazy.

With Overwatch, and I’ve been playing since release, I have ran into 3 maybe 4 obvious hackers. Then you run into a couple widows here or where it’s like “is that just really good aim… or a hack”

But for the most part, you’re being matched with people leagues above you (masters, sometimes even GM in modes such as QP or Arcade, where this “infestation” is)

Or you’re just running into low level alt accounts / smurfs.

I praise OW for how few hackers there are. It’s a nice change.

Sounds like someone lost their mid silver game to a smurf again, lol.

I do agree that hacks are more prevalent than people realize.
But better mechanical aim in the lower tiers is not proof of this.
In a System where you lose more for each loss and gain less for each win, and one that forces 50% winrate…well essentially most players will drop to lower rankings.

First, GreenBeetle, I see you are new to the Overwatch forums. So, WELCOME TO THE OVERWATCH FORUMS! We’re so glad to have you!

Second, those “hackers” you refer to are smurfs…they are a cancer to Overwatch and Blizzard can and must ban them from the game. If you have more than one Blizzard account, then you are nothing but a troublemaker and need to go get a second job…

Third, if actual hackers are playing in such a high proportion, Blizzard would have banned their sorry behinds a long time ago…considering hacking is practically against every single EULA/ToS on every single reputable game out there…

But more than likely you saw cancerous smurfs…

Hacks were a big problem in TF2 because it was a free game and it is super easy to make a new steam account.

It was easy to tell if people were cheating, you just go cloak and dagger spy and hide in some random location.

I’m on console so don’t have to deal with hackers but I’ve seen a lot of people on twitter and facebook posting that there’s been a lot more hackers than usual this week

Yes… I know. I was making the comparison to TF2 because of how easy and prominent the hacking was.

Haha I remember having to do this a couple times when there was a sniper hacker.

I almost miss those days.

Turns out he was just playing total mayhem the whole time and didn’t realize it. :stuck_out_tongue:

Ive read there is a new hack out that works really great for these people so im not surprised about the rise of hackers again.

i havent seen a hacker in months personally sometimes people are just better than you

blizzard has a page for reporting this…BTW

I’ve yet to see a single hacker in Overwatch and trust me, I can spot a hacker when I see one. Either I’m blind as a mole or they’re using incredibly subtle hacks.

It’s more likely that you’re just facing smurfs.

I like TF2 more than Overwatch but I have to agree that hacking seems to be a more prevelant problem than.

I remember getting headshoted as a a Cloak N Dagger Spy. At first I just thought the enemy sniper got lucky. Than it happened again so I started to getting suspicious. So I started doing some experimenting.

  1. I made sure no teammates were behind or in front of me

  2. I made sure I always approached the point while cloaked.

  3. I took multiple routes to the post.

After being 3-5 deaths by headshots I knew they were aimbotting and called them out on the chat. Though you know what they say about hackers. Every hacker is a liar.

really? I rarely see cheaters in this game. especially compared to rainbow six and csgo

The word “hacker” is offensive. We prefer to be called The Sombra Squad.
