Overwatch is that type of game

There are three types of games.

One has music that ranges from garbage to mediocre, and people mostly don’t talk about it. (Call of Duty, Just Cause, etc.)

Another has literal fire as music, and everybody clamors over it and loves it to shreds. (Shovel Knight, Detroit: Become Human, Undertale, Katamari)

Then there’s a third type. The type that has a killer soundtrack but gets overlooked because it’s simply not heard enough in-game.

Overwatch is the third type. It has a killer soundtrack, especially the map themes. You can find them all on Spotify, they were released during the Sigma Maestro challenge last July.

You should definitely give them a listen if that’s the type of music you’re into. I recommend Havana specifically, that one is so good.

Thats something the sequel should fix, as you don’t need to listen for enemy ult-lines and footsteps when you just blasting away A.I designed to be as blatantly visible as possible.

Imagine if the music for the hero missions were remixed version of the map themes.

Yar…

The music from Storm Rising was actually pretty good. It fit the Havana setting incredibly well and was incredibly nice to listen to. I’d say that’s the closest we’ve gotten to where it should be.

The best theme.

The sound design in this game is pretty awesome in general.

Do yourself a favour. Load up Nepal Sanctum as a custom map, put on your best headphones, sit right in the middle of the point and just listen.

Lol. Are we linking our favorite songs from under-appreciated games? If you insist…

^ Specifically around 2:30 here.

Destiny has a killer soundtrack but the gameplay sadly doesn’t really match up with it. The Last Array vibes

I fear we’ll run into Off-topic warnings if we keep this up.

This is the “full version” of the track. You only here a little preview when traveling to the map. It really is amazing though.

It really is. I want an extended version of the comp intro theme soooo badly. I think it’s only like a minute or so rn.

Music is forgettable for me. Plenty of games with actual amazing soundtracks. OW ain’t one of them.

I’m pretty sure it was in the Widow Short, Alive. I may be mistaken.

Edit: NVM it’s the same clip from in-game.

well i know the begining part you hear when traveling there is. not sure about the rest.

It is; I said comp theme because everyone knows what it is without having to look it up

Plays in the rooftop chase iirc

i think overwatch has good music, its not the kind of thing i would listen to in my spare time, and overwatch’s music is nothing compared to some of the other music out there, i like portal’s music so much more.

also comparing overwatchs music to games like hollow knight and undertale are unfair, simply because overwatch can’t really compete with those games soundtrack, never can never will

but i think junkertown and chatuae guilliard are the best, the rest are meh, kanzeakas isn’t too bad tho i can’t find the offical soundtrack for it.

point is, overwatch has decent music, some are really good, the rest is meh. its only decent imho, only a few of them have ever standed out to me, the rest are forgettable.
