Overwatch is a creep-less MOBA that allows you to play in the first person perspective.
Notice that all of the maps are MOBA designs turned on their axis. There’s a main lane, a top lane, and a bottom lane.
For those of you with knowledge of Blizzard’s old games, Warcraft 3 was the foundation of DOTA. In WC3 heroes had 3 cool down abilities and one ultimate that charged over time.
WC3 was balanced around the abilities of both the heroes and the build trees of its 4 races - Undead, Orcs, Night Elves, and Humans. You were expected to build to a particular army composition (one that had synergies such as bloodlusted taurens with a tauren chieftain, Blademaster, and far seer), but your opponent had the opportunity and ability to counter build to overcome your army (gryphon+sorceresses).
This is Overwatch. I’m sure many of you won’t look it up, but will still disagree with me anyway. But the core aspects of Overwatch, its hero designs, its map designs are all there in plain sight.
All of you FPS purists complaining about low skill/high reward are playing the wrong game. Accept what Overwatch is and enjoy the game or move on.
It’s a GARBAGE MOBA then (Doesn’t have even half of the depth of even the most casual MOBA), better off calling it a mediocre FPS with laughable MOBA elements like it actually is.
Maybe you should “Go play LoL xD” if FPS players offend you so much.
Not at all. But a game’s design is not beholden to what we think it should be, but rather what it is designed to be. Blizzard is a company with its roots in what I’ve described above. If a spoon is designed for scooping and you think it should be used for spearing as would a fork, that’s not poor spoon design or poor utensil balancing. That’s you not understanding the spoon’s design intent.
What other pure first person shooter has so many classes that actually don’t require aim and/or don’t actually shoot as a core/base ability? But yet there’s Reinhardt, Zarya, Symmetra, Moira, Mercy, Brigitte, Doomfist, Mei, etc…
