Overwatch Install/Update stuck on initializing

ive had this problem since yesterday, everything was fine till the update. first i thought it was my network going bad so i thought i would just wait it out till the storm stops (it’s raining heavy where im at) then during the night i installed a different game called Ark, no problem whatsoever 200+gb done installing in 2 hours, so the problem isnt with my internet, i tried different solutions in forums but nothing worked like reinstalling the game and the launcher, typing something in command, checking if my windows are updated and devices which are all up to date. i tried many options but nothing worked so far. anyone know how to fix this issue?

Hey Chaika,

If the update is getting stuck on initializing it may indicate there’s corrupt data in the install directory. Try a clean reinstall of Overwatch 2 and Battle.net.

First uninstall Overwatch 2 through Battle.net, then manually delete the leftover Overwatch folder from the install directory. Next, clean reinstall the Battle.net app

  1. In Windows go to Start → Settings
  2. Click on Apps
  3. Uninstall the Battle.net app (If you get an error, continue on to the next steps)
  4. Press Windows key + R
  5. Type the following into the Run window and hit Enter: %APPDATA%
  6. Delete the Battle.net and Blizzard folders inside the appdata folder if they exist.
  7. Repeat steps 4-6 with %LOCALAPPDATA% and %PROGRAMDATA%
  8. Empty the recycle bin.

Now reinstall the Battle.net app: Battle.net Desktop App | Battle.net

Start a new install of Overwatch 2 making sure there’s no files left in the install location.

FTLOG I cant wait til they just FIX this. I have to jump through hoops just to start up the game
