Overwatch has fostered an awful competitive community

The competitive community thats been fostered by this game is insanely horrible. No one speaks whatsoever, people would rather lose than switch character, if you critique anyone in the slightest or ask them to change something you’re “so toxic”.

Maybe this is just how new games are… But my god, stop policing your community in ABSOLUTE SILENCE, and foster a community of competitive players.

In most games I don’t speak or type in fear of getting reported and banned. I can get banned for anything currently so…

This is game is at least 10x more toxic than any other multiplayer game I’ve played in the past decade.

You sir need to play a game called For Honor

This is not my experience at all. The vast majority of the time I get a team that wants to win and will work together. I use the LFG when playing comp, so that may have something to do with it.

Any game that is “toxic” always has the most speech police features. But then look at a game like Counter-Strike, DoTA, or any of a multitude of games where the community polices itself and its far better.

I cant play this game for more than an hour without my blood boiling from the absolute silence I encounter in competitive.

Or that’s just what you’re interpreting because you have the same mindset as those in the awful side of the Overwatch competitive community. As long as someone tries their best with the hero they are playing as, IDGAF.

You sir need to experience what gaming was a decade ago where respect was shared. Not privately exclusive to whoever gives out noods.

Probably over exhagerattong here but still. Moral decency people. Manners. Basic ettiquette there was such a time where it was common place to consider everyone as participants and rivals. Not just some live target dummy meant for hunting.

You either lying or not paying attention.

Either way welcome to the game. Hope you continue having fun and whenever you do hit that roadblock that you find the strength to overcome it.

In a fair and positive manner for everyone of course.

Reveal to us your competitive enabled account.

Those games you listed are still considered highly toxic and are reknown for it…

I just wanted to point that out. Lile there is no policing there because the regulations for how a player acts is not set in stone or supervised by a management team.

On the other hand positive communities such as Warframe amd Duantless have much more at stake and must act accordingly or lose out on everything they risk for the player and their game.

This is what sparks a good community. A good business relationship. Good service brings about more business deals. Happy customers bring about good feedback and free promotions for the game.

Yet if a game is overhyped. It can live through word of mouth alone and continue managing itself on lies so long as yhe lie continues rather than the truth being found out.

I’ve been playing this game since launch. I started in silver when comp launched and now I’m mid to high plat.

It’s not that every game I play is perfect, but most players want to win and work together. I have been frustrated by this game more than you know. I realized it was me, not my teammates.

So you’re too invested in a game that has your hopes tied to its ankles.

You claim nothing but good and have yet to confess about the negatives.

We are looking for honest opinions. Not force filled narratives.

So I’d appreciate it if you displayed something that the game is lacking. Rather then claiming perfection for something that isn’t perfect.

Trust me. You yourself cannot fix everything. So you’re only hurting yourself by never accrpting the fact that something in the game is trending toxic habits or bad players.

I mean its evident in ever multuplayer game. To essentially say “this is my fault” every round is choosing to take responsibility for something you have no control over that does affect your own gaming experiences within a match.

The policies… you expect the worst of people, you get it

You treat people like kids… that’s how they’ll act

The difference between OW and something like CSGO is a suffocating “left” atmosphere which is extremely oppressive to expression and most kinds of “free speech”. Ironic, given usually the “right” messes up society…

Either way, the issue extends far outside of Overwatch and our little community. We’re not a closed system, or trying to tackle this issue would actually be logical. Right now, it isn’t.

edit: when constricted like the way Blizz does in “hunting” toxicity, people will purposefully go overboard as a means of spite (see: every kid’s game trolls or a *chan ever raided). It’s human to do such. This overboard behavior is what you’re referring to. However, it’s just reactionary. It will keep happening more and more the tighter Blizz locks down. They’re literally abusing the playerbase into having opposition defiance disorder.

No I didn’t. Reread my post.

OW isn’t perfect. Hammond is a troll hero right now, Sym needs a few adjustments to make her viable in more situations, and Sombra is broken still. All the forum does is reinforce negativity. Positive post fall into obscurity while everyone jumps on the negative bandwagon.

Toxic players exist. I have had plenty of games with them and we’ve lost. I have also had many games where no one was toxic and we lost because were weren’t as good as the other team. I’ve won with toxic players. I have had to listen to a toxic player lay in to everyone on the team as we watched his POTG. That doesn’t change the fact that the vast majority of players want to win.

My not ranking up was my fault. I would trickle in, I died constantly, I didn’t know how my dying negatively affected my team, I was playing heroes I couldn’t play well, my tracking was trash, my positioning was bad, and I died a lot! I know I said that one already, but it is the worst thing you can do in OW.

I can only control my play. I need to do my job. If that heal, I need to heal. If I’m DPS, I need to DPS. If I’m a tank, I need to tank.

Yes but not everything is your fault.

Things could be better. And denying that is denying any change that would benefit all in this platform.

Dang reply glitch. Like is this not fixed yet? Above post replying to your previous post mate.

Agreed, but if my healer isn’t doing their job, hypothetically, I need to play around heath packs or compensate by playing a self sustaining hero.

If I am healing and my tanks keep rushing in, I need to follow them to try and make the most of their poor play. It may not work, but it’s better than nothing.

I can’t take the blame for every loss just like I cannot take credit for every win. It’s a team game, and sometimes good team play means playing around the weakest link.

I played a match on Hollywood where our Rein kept charging. I asked him to stop, he said, “I am an aggressive Rein. I was playing Moria. Every time I’d see him charge, I’d throw an orb his direction and then keep him up as long as possible. The problem is it worked. We won. His poor play was rewarded, but I wasn’t going to just let him charge in and die. I had to play around him.

Yes but two playerd don’t make a win. You somrhoe overcome six others gunning for you.

That healer still needs to take cover. Your tank still needs to provide her cover and room.

Your other dps need to oill that flanker or destory the enemy tank coming in.

Its a team effort. 6v6. Not a 2v6. This idea is currently lost as players just put their hoprs in the upcoming match hoping they get better teammates rather than just knowing they’ll get a good experience playing the game.

Because teamwork is the last thing focused on in the game. Its be nice and continue playing the game that is trending right now. Which does nothing but allowing certain bad habits and trends to seep forward.

So long as you stray from being just yourself among a team and instead being that teammate everyone wants you yourself have done everything in your power to fox the situation.

Instead it sounds like you lay every blame and lesson on yourself. Never holding other accountable if they made a mistale or did horribly. Which is never a bad thing if a player is really tying to improve. So give out tips make some shot calling. We ourselves need to teach others how to hold themselves up ingame among other players. Not as lone wolves but as a potebtial teammate for all.
