Overwatch has characters with the most personality

And yet I’ve seen many negative posts say otherwise, and I strongly disagree. The voices, what they say, and character interaction are part of what made me love this game and stay with it since 2018.

The another major factor that made this game so special is trying out all the unique heroes and cool abilities.

Lastly, the thing that actually kept me here for 3+ years is the workshop. Probably the most magical thing of all. Finding cool modes and finding out how they work, then making something new. I have over 800 hours in the workshop on PC alone. I’ve made dozens of modes, most of which are based on other modes, but more complex and I usually recode everything from scratch.

Though, with the content super drought, that magic was lost-- Things got stale, and people left.

I could create I really fun mode in the workshop, but getting anyone to join nowadays is damn near impossible.

Ofc, With Overwatch 2, there’s hope. After playing sojourn in the beta, I couldn’t go back. She is by far my favorite hero rn as she is extremely aim intensive and her rail gun is fun to use. No other hero (other than maybe Ana, my former main) compares with Sojourn. But then I see people on here say she has ‘no personality’ and has a ‘bland, generic kit’. ??? WHAT? Wdym?

The forums are not a representation of how all of us feel. There can be much negativity of here at times, and yes, blizzard has let us down in the past, but I have hope with overwatch 2 and I think they can bring back the magic of this game.

Overwatch isn’t boring, nor does it have ‘generic characters’ with ‘no personality’. It’s a fun game, but it just needs the upgrade we’ve all been awaiting.

TLDR: Overwatch’s Heroes have great personality, and fun kits. The magic of the game might have faded during the content drought, but I have confidence that OW2 can bring it back.

OW heroes have great voice lines and are definitely memorable, but personalities? Eh, most are pretty bland tbh.

Tell me anything, but Pharah simply does not have a full personality. She’s just a military robot that’s a bit salty at its mother.

Pharah could use some work, but for all the other heroes the voice interaction and stuff are great.

What game are you comparing it to?

TF2 :smirk:

Well, the characters in that game look bland.

They may “look” bland but they are definitely not, watch this trailer for one of the classes

Just one name that make all your claim fall into the pit.

Pharah.

the apotheosis of a person without personality.

you’re welcome.

At least it actually is somewhat funny, the only thing funny with Pharah is her being shot down and screaming while she falls down the pit.

Yeah but she’s the exception. Doesn’t even Have an animated short I don’t think

Mmm Overwatch has a lot of characters with differing motivations, instead of personalities tbh.

Like, 99% of Moira’s lines are about being unethical and loving science. It’s not really a personality. It’s a motivation.

It’s like the opposite of TF2, where every class has a mountain of personality, but no real motivation.

That’s so true. In OW heroes have their own motivations, but in TF2 every class is just a mercenary hired to fight for either RED or BLU lol.

I’d say Reinhardt, DVA and Sombra have the best personalities?

It’s mostly because despite the characters’ potential, the writing was so freakin’ awful. If the character interactions are anything to go by, it certainly seems to have improved in OW2, but we’ll see when the campaign rolls around.

reaper don’t have (talkin only about cinematic)

moira

zen

etc etc.

I don’t think the real “caricature” characters have that much of a personality either. They just picked one trait and really ran with it. So I don’t personally think there’s much going on with Rein or DVA, and I’d place them similarly to characters like Junkrat or Widowmaker or Reaper.

Sombra though, yeah she has a personality. I would also maybe say Hog has a personality, even if that personality is a quiet one.

i know i aint seeing TF2 slander here of all places, those characters have more personality than 80% of this game’s roster

The cinematics have shown personality but unfortunately we’ve had much less of those.

I would love to see their personalities elaborated on more in that format as that’s what drew me to Overwatch.

Well I was specifically referring to their cinematic stories.

I know in game they don’t have much going on, but on their shorts they’re something else.

Ah yeah that’s true enough
