Tbf I think a lot of it comes down to the packaging and people are getting caught up on that. It’s understandable.

Overwatch 2 sort of implies this “sequel” or “new game” element. Whereas if it was advertised as an expansion pack, then people would be more considerate imo as expansion packs are a well established and familiar thing. Whereas “2” always implies a start of something new, even if it’s almost identical to the previous iteration.

Pair that with there being no idea what the price tag will be, etc, you have people just going full blown semantic/pedantic and speculating themselves into orbit.

When the leaks dropped, people FREAKED out like “What about meh skins!? What about OW1 and the PVP what about etc etc etc? I can’t believe this!!!” Then after Blizzcon it shifted to this trend of people assuming price point and arguing all kinds of weird entitlement stuff.

How Blizz handled this, imo, was quite good. I have no need, nor desire, to spend any money on this PVE stuff. And I am not suffering in any way because of that. Win in my books.

Those that want PVE stuff, they have the option to have it now. Not just some barebones archives event, but a fully fleshed out PVE experience with added mechanics etc etc. If that interests them, they can make a purchase and acquire it. More power to them.

Tbh, a lot of it just comes down to ppl on this forum bandwagoning on hate trains and getting their daily dose of “fighting the good fight” in. That’s all.
