Overwatch Fan Art

I love art and I’m determined to start learning to digitally draw as I recently got an iPad Pro and Apple Pencil so I’m super duper stoked to start some doodles! :pencil2:

So basically, I just wanted to make this thread as a place to share any creations you lot have made! I personally love looking at all the stuff shared online and realised there wasn’t a specific forum to share it in so why not dump it here

If you have anything you want to share then please do as I’d love to see it! Skin concepts, rough doodles or really detailed pieces. Everything is welcome

I binge on deviant art once or twice a month and this conversation is making that itch scratch again.

I love that one too! Makes me wish I’d one day get to that level of skill (although that’s unlikely :joy:)

Go have a binge! I’m OWL Token farming in the background whilst watching Creative streams on Twitch - they’ve become a new hobby of mine :grinning:

Aww thank you so much!

This is AWESOME!

Did you do this?! I’d love a skin like this in the game. Even though I don’t play Doomfist, it looks really nice :star_struck:

What programmes/apps do you use may I ask? I’m super jealous of all your creations and that sky is breathtaking!

Nice job! It’s super duper awesome! Do you do many pieces? I’d love to see more of your work if you do

I draw on a Wacom Bamboo tablet. Most of the art on my Tumblr was made in Sketchbook Pro by Autodesk, but lately I’ve been learning Photoshop.

Sketchbook was good for me to start to get a feel for how digital art worked—the tools in it all mimic how the physical art tools work IRL. So the markers are transparent and can layer on top of each other, the pencil is thin and semi-opaque with very slight pressure sensitivity, the pen is not pressure sensitive and gives a solid opaque line, etc. etc. It has layers and some basic blend modes.

Sketchbook has some pronounced limitations compared to Photoshop, but Photoshop has such a steep learning curve to it that I really found Sketchbook helpful to learn on. Now that I have handle on it, I can fiddle around in Photoshop (which I am still a n00b at, for what it’s worth), and at least know what kind of opacity/hardness/flow/etc. I’m even trying to achieve.

Thank you for letting me know

I’ll have to get the n00b friendly apps first haha! I’ve been binge watching some YouTube videos on techniques and other tips.

I’ll probably have to use something basic though as I’m positive the layers and effects would confuse me :joy:

I never finished this one completely but I really loved how it turned out xP

this one too!

Sketchbook has a free version if you want to try it out. It doesn’t do a whole lot, unfortunately, but layers are SUUUUUUPER helpful. While they take some getting used to, I think it’s not that hard to get ahold of once you get to work with them a little bit.

It’s kind of like drawing on a stack of transparent sheets. So one transparent sheet has your outline on it, and one transparent sheet has your colors on it, and another has your shading on it. Stack them all up in the right order and they make one cohesive picture.

Layers let you make edits to part of the picture without risking messing up the whole thing—so if you accidentally color outside of the lines, for instance, it won’t affect your outline, and you can erase and morph and change the colors without touching anything else.

Or you can do a basic sketch on one layer, and then do your linework on a new layer on top of it, and then hide or delete your sketch layer when you don’t need it anymore.

Layers are your friend. Learn to love the layers.

Oh that’s super helpful then! Phew!

I was under the impression I’d stand more of a chance ruining my piece with layers rather than the layers helping me not ruin it! Haha

Thank you for all your help  Can’t wait to see more of your work in the future too!

I don’t think I am at a level where I can post images but I did a McCree digital painting (with a Canadian flag at the request of my Canadian McCree main friend) at instagram. com/siennarena.
