Overwatch fails to start properly

Upon launching the game, overwatch shows me a completely black screen, excepting the cursor, which changes to indicate that overwatch is what’s running. I can hear overwatch audio playing, and the battle.net launcher says I’m “in menu” in overwatch. If I close overwatch via the task manager, the battle.net launcher will think overwatch is still running. I’ve tried to uninstall and reinstall, and that didn’t fix the problem. This is my first gaming pc, and I got it 2 days ago. There shouldn’t be anything interfering with it. I’ve also already tried factory resetting the computer and reinstalling windows. That failed to fix the problem. I have no trouble starting Hearthstone, if that helps at all.

Any help is appreciated.

Hi, I’m a volunteer. Can you add a DxDiag here?

Click here to show/hide DxDiag report instructions
  1. Press Windows Key + R, then type DxDiag and press Enter.
  2. In the DxDiag window, click Save All Information.
  3. Name the file dxdiag and click Save.

After you have the report:

Note: If you have trouble posting the URL, highlight the link and click </> on the post editor toolbar.

Please note that there is no guarantee what’s causing your issue will be apparent from a DxDiag and you may need to do more investigating on your own.

as an update: I just tried running Overwatch, and it now shows me the main menu, but the screen appears to be out of sync with the audio cues. I took a screen recording, found in the link below. For context, I currently play on xbox, which is why you aren’t seeing a brand-new account. Please let me know if you need anything else in order to help me and thank you for your time!

Your monitor is plugged into the wrong port. You’re trying to use the integrated GPU for gaming instead of the standalone AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT.

I was just told to update my drivers, and that fixed it, but I appreciate you taking your time to help people.

Edit: never mind, I tabbed back to the game after making this post and it was doing the same thing again.

Edit 2: you are correct. Thank you very much.

Happy to help, enjoy your matches.
