When I try launching OW2 the application opens to a black screen for a second before crashing. I’ve tried several troubleshoot guides and methods online and on forum posts, but to no avail.
Please help.
This issue is almost always due to either out of date/corrupt video drivers or interference from other software on the system. (programs with overlays like discord or geforce experience) software from ASUS, Razer, Alienware, MSI, etc… that provides "performance enhancements, profile/settings management of the game, or extra features for gaming peripherals.
Making sure you have a clean install of all Windows updates and all hardware drivers, then disabling any other software that is not needed for the game to function should solve the issue and allow you to determine what exactly is the core issue interfering with the game.
I’ve tried disabling all such programs and yes, I have all updated hard drives and software. Still, nothing is working.
I’ve had the same issue, I really cannot figure it out even after trying every method listed in FAQs and Forums. I was running OW 2 just fine for several weeks then suddenly with a new update I can no longer enter the game, the window will open over the monitor and then close immediately (no error message). Now for as many as three or four weeks I haven’t even been able to open the game.
i’ve had this same issue before, black screen before a general error message.
try launching the game from windows safe mode.
launch the game from the retail folder in the overwatch folder, not the launcher.
you can not play in safe mode obviously but it gets you a step closer to solving it.
