Overwatch connects me to the incorrect server

Hello,

I’ve recently encountered an annoying issue that happened right after I switched ISPs. Overwatch (for some reason) thinks I’m playing in the NA Southwest region and only puts me in las1 servers, even though I live in NA central. When I read related threads regarding this issue, I noticed that most moderators replied that the problem could be due to low amount of players queueing in the region I should be in, so it puts me in a different region. I know for a fact that this is not the issue because when I create my own custom game, it either puts me in the las1 server or the ams1 server and shows that the NA Southwest server has the most bars in the custom game lobby settings, even though I receive the lowest ping on the ord1 server by at least 20ms. Is there a way I can fix this because I don’t want to purchase a VPN service. Thanks.

You could block europe servers in your firewall settings, search on the internet “block overwatch europe ip” or something like that but you need to find ip ranges for europe server.

You can check out this post maybe it will help:

All players in North America can be matched to Chicago (ORD) or Las Vegas (LAS) servers, so that’s working as intended. It sounds like your new ISP has a different routing table and that could be the cause for the change. Blocking a server IP isn’t a good idea for two main reasons:

  • Server IPs change pretty often to protect against DDoS attacks.
  • If you get matched to a server you blocked, you may incur a leaver penalty since you won’t be able to join the match.

having the same issue and dont understand what i need to do to fix it
