Overwatch connection problems (Looking Glass results)

Im not sure if this is a problem with my Overwatch or my pc but was looking for some help fixing it. I went to a website which suggested a variety of different fixes which I have worked my way throw and none of which seemed to fix my problem. The final solution was to run the Battle.net looking glass and publish the results. My problem is that every half an hour to hour my connection will drop from my pc and this is very frustrating whilst trying to play competitive as I can sometimes cancel games, lose 50sr and get suspended from ranked play. I have placed a space after every .net in the looking glass results as I couldn’t publish this with links, sorry if this messes up the results.
Here are my results :

Hey Bonix,

The looking-glass results appear fine actually. Since the disconnect is only happening every 30 minutes to an hour then it won’t likely show up in looking-glass, since that only runs for a few seconds.

Try running a WinMTR instead. WinMTR can run for as long as you let it go, so you can leave it running in the background while you’re playing. Once you disconnect, stop the test and post the results.

  1. Download WinMTR
  2. Right-click on the downloaded .zip folder and select “Extract All”, to extract the files to a new folder.
  3. Open the new folder that was created, then open the WinMTR_x64 folder.
  4. Right-click on the WinMTR application and select “Run as administrator”.
  5. Launch Overwatch and join a match. Once you’re in the match, press Ctrl+Shift+N to open the Network Graph.
  6. Look for the server name displayed in brackets and the IP address at the top. Note you will need to remove the colon and port number after the IP address before running the test. (12.345.67.89:PORT)
  7. Alt+Tab back to WinMTR, then type the server IP address in the “Host” field.
  8. Click on “Start” and Alt+Tab back into the game. Allow the test to run until you disconnect. Click on “Stop” when you’re done playing.
  9. Click on “Copy Text to Clipboard”, paste the results here, then highlight everything and hit the </> button in the posting section so it will allow links.
Thank you for the reply.

I will get this done by tommorow and send you the results.

Thanks for the help.

I have now completed my WinMTR test. I disconnected towards the end. I had to edit this post as it wouldnt allow me to reply again. Here are the results:

I previously published my looking glass results and got a reply from someone from the blizzard team. However I replied something that wasnt the WinMTR results and had to edit the results onto my reply which I dont think notified him so I made another topic about it including my WinMTR results just incase this is the case. I described my connection issues and what happened on my previous post.

Howdy Bonix,

It looks like the big problem is that there is issues between the computer and modem causing latency spikes. This could be due to wireless interference so if possible, try connecting the computer directly to the modem with an ethernet cable.

Thanks for the reply. I have an extender that I plug my pc into via ethernet. Is it possible this could be due to a faulty extender or is it a problem with my pc. It is almost impossible to get my pc directly connected via ethernet cable to the main modem so is there any other fixes that would help this or would I have to directly connect my pc to the main modem via ethernet.

Thank you very much

It’s hard to say without testing/eliminating the individual components of your network setup. You could try a very long cable, just for testing. If it works perfectly, then you know it’s not your PC or the modem.

Thanks for the reply,

I will try this and see what happens. Thanks for the help.
