Overwatch connecting to datacenter nowhere near my region

I’m in Canada (Ontario), when I press Ctrl-Shift-N I see GSG1 which is Singapore. No-wonder my latency is somewhere around 250 to 300 ms with spikes to 500.

This started happening recently, why is the game connecting me to a wrong data-centre?

Honestly not sure if you’ll find much help  I usually get connected to servers on the other side or in the middle of the country when I use to connect to servers on the east coast. I never got much help from the forums before when it was so bad I couldnt play with the latency issues, besides people telling me how to test to see if it was really me or the game. It feels like they are shutting down some centers since the launch of ow2

It’s pretty unusual to route that far away, but you can test if it’s an ISP routing problem. Try a VPN for a match or a mobile hotspot.

The East coast server was not a permanent datacenter, only Chicago and Las Vegas (previously Los Angeles).

Thank you for confirming :] I asked about a year ago on tech thread and that would of saved me much time to just know it was gone lol

I didn’t know at that time that the server wasn’t permanent, so I didn’t have any info to provide in a response.
