Hello,
There are some seasonal challenges right now that should reward you with overwatch coins. But i’m not receiving them. For catch a mary there are 3 main challenges that should reward 300 overwatch coins each. I’ve completed all 3 of them but i didn’t receive any overwatch coins.
I just tested it, the last challenge i had to do was to play play 40 catch a mary games but my overwatch coin ballance did not go up by 300 once i finnished that challenge. So whats up with that?
Greetings.
It’s another currency. It’s credits
Did you check the latest community manager post? This is what happened:
Due to ongoing technical issues with our Anniversary Challenges, we’re going to keep the Overwatch Credits rewards from challenges disabled for the remainder of the Event. To make up for this, we’re granting everyone who logs in during the first week of Season 7, starting October 10, a reward of 3,000 Overwatch Credits, even if you don’t complete challenges in the Anniversary Event. The Anniversary Credits Shop will be live through October 16. We’ll also have more content available for Overwatch Credits starting in Season 7 which we’ll reveal soon.
Also: it’s not coins, but credits.
Well first, the logo look exactly the same, en seccond, what are credits and how do you use those?
Why do they make it so complicated. In OW1 things were a lot simpler.
It´s not the same.
And coins are for real money.
Credits are from OW1 and challanges and you can buy right now event skins for it in shop and old basic skins for most heroes.
Ok, and where can i see how many credits i have? I can’t seem to find that.
Almost.
The difference between coins and credits:
Coins
- Currency introduced in OW2 to replace the OW1 credits (until they reintroduced it as a free currency supplementing the existing coins system which now becomes the “premium” currency).
- Has a gold colored hexagon logo.
- Obtained through either from completing the weekly (not event) challenges and by purchasing some through the shop using real money.
Credits
- Legacy currency from OW1 that has since returned (see above).
- Has silver round logo.
- Obtained through completing Battlepass tiers and doing “these” event challenges. These currency cannot be bought with real money.
- Open your Hero Gallery and select any hero, then open their skin menu or emotes, sprays, etc.
- There’s the amount of coins that you have on the top right of your screen and if you notice next to those numbers, there’s a little circle with the “i” on it. Click those.
- You can now see the amount of other currency that you might have (coins, credits, competitive points and OW League tokens).
Forgot to explain these.
Coins can be used on anything from the hero gallery and the shop, hence the “premium” currency status.
Credits are restricted to OW1 era cosmetics and certain OW2 cosmetics from the hero gallery.
Oh ok, i’ve found it. Thanks for the info. Those damn MTX, worst invention in gaming histrory. But thank you anyway.

Yeah, these monetization system are very confusing especially for new players.
