Overwatch classic strategy .... is insane

so had a game on temple of anubis where i was on defense. decided to go symmetra since yea building oppurtunities.

enemy team was 4+ widows the whole game (think it started out as 5 or 6 widows). NEVER PEAKED as symmetra but ran around corners setting up turrets. my teammates continue to get headshotted THE WHOLE GAME. its like they didnt understand that there are 4+ widows.

i thought well the widows have to contest the point at some time so ill just set up turrets and hide… put my porter in the back so my kamikazee not so smart teammates can come back and contest. we somehow manage to lose 1st point in the last seconds

was like ok… next point no way they can contest unless they switch to brawlers. teammates continue to get headshotted like crazy… widows NEVER contest the point since my turrets and some torb turrets

WE WIN but their top widow had 25 kills with 5 deaths. one of our guys was 7-12 with most of my teammates dying 10+ times. i had 3 kills and 4 deaths since i never really peaked or hided most of the time setting up turrets and at last point waited for when they would try

they never did but in a way they won the game. game was a deathmatch for them while my teammates gave them what they wanted. i didnt and actually won the game but im like… what the hell is this madness and why are my teammates so dense

classic is very strange… like the twilight zone

You’ve done good, surviving that. I’ll never understand why so many people choose to run out in the open and almost kiss the enemy spawn doors like that, especially on defense :skull:

Actually, seeing that footage made me look forward to trying OWC even more. It looks like a totally different game. I also seriously want to try ye olde Symm now ohhhh geeeeez

There is something in the water. Drink bottled or get a filter. That’s the best advice I can possibly give anyone.

i’ve been playing sym everytime on defense… its so addicting

one thing im forgetting is shielding people. been trying to remember that in my last couple of games. the mitigation tho minimal may be worth it

Folks are used to overfocus on killing and forgetting objectives.

If you look on most recent maps and map designs are often with too much open and routes.

Control maps, push and flashpoint doesn’t enable strategic play.

While assault and, as fun it sounds, clash can.

Escort and hybrid are oddballs due having multiple routes but also have some narrowed paths.

Ow2 is a game designed with mobas maps in mind and faster pacing gameplay. While OWC is more tied to fps maps in mind and more strategical/tactical gameplay. Which is why your feeling of deathmatch is pretty accurate.

If it was OW2, you would have been rolled and smoked.

This is the strength of the og ow.

Oh no, its not that. Its the insane stubbornness of players when OQ is there.

It doesn’t matter how many times they get HS by widows in the same path: They will never switch to Reinhardts.

one thing that im remembering about classic. roadhog players… always looking for the hook, playing passive. not contesting, leaving you to die. always hated that hero but of course that is not all roadhogs… still man… a fat dps who is a scaredy cat and leaves you out to dry
