So a lot of people are talking about a WoW Classic, but for Overwatch instead. I am inhaling massive amounts of copium wishing they would make it.
Anyways, the main debate going around is what patch should the game be on? Well, after looking at some old Overwatch videos, I can say that one of the patches that stick out would be in October of 2020.
This patch was looked at with 90% positivity and 10% negativity from what I’ve gathered. Creators like Seagull and Samito were content with the patch. Seagull even played the game for a month STRAIGHT because of how good the patch was to him.
I know it’s most likely not going to happen given the game is still “thriving”, or a better word would be successful. That’s all from me though.
You’re asking for a company previously led by $$$ metrics that is 95% the same as the old game, minus ow2 skins, $kins, and removal of free event skins / free generous lootboxes. To add a old balance patch.
They could just as easily add on +50 more hp to tanks in role que, maybe adjust some changes like Reinhardt’s Shatter going from a “meh” interupt ultimate with only time to swing the hammer once or twice.
To the lethality it has with dual fire strikes.
Even if they did. I’d rather they just return lootboxes, i doubt that we’d get the free generosity of “free skin” vs “insert 36$ to get ‘christmas skins’” blizz. We don’t even get discounts for purchasing LEGACY content / winter skins… And the most expensive skin is a kerrigan skin as… a winter event, wtf?
I guess that’s kind of what I am going for. In all honesty, I couldn’t care less about monetization, I was thinking about the OW Classic thing with the idea that it would just be 6v6, I would like to see new synergies with the OW2 heros though.
Imagine Junkerqueen and Rammatra ult combos, where everyone is anti’d and ram cleans up.
Also, loot boxes would be way too much of a stretch, because everyone would play OW1 for skins.
Maybe they could incorporate a battle pass “cross-progression” system? Probably would be too much because then there is no incentive for OW2. They could even make a reason to have the OW1 border show up on your career, or you could at least still progress it in OW1.
