Overwatch Changes the Volume of my Computer

This issue started fairly recently I believe, probably within the past 2 weeks.
Whenever I alt-tab into, or just focus the Overwatch client, my computer master volume/slider sets itself to 24, even if it was previously higher or lower. When I tab out it resets itself to what it was before.
I have reinstalled the game which did not fix my problem. It is not a problem with my headphones as it happens on all my audio devices.
This is very annoying cause I have to change my volume every time I go into the game if I want to hear anything.

I have not heard of this issue before. Make sure to include your DxDiag for troubleshooting.

Is there a specific part of the DxDiag report you need?

All of it, usually. If it doesn’t fit here, use Pastebin.com and provide a link to it

I see a lot of GPU-related crashes in your report, as well as something called whatpulse.exe. You might need to reinstall the drivers if you’re using the HD audio driver that comes with them.

Hey evan,

If you don’t have any luck with Nicole’s suggestions, it could also be another program or service running in the background that’s causing the volume to lower automatically.

Try rebooting using Selective Startup to see if that changes things.

  1. Press Windows Key+R.
  2. Type msconfig and press Enter.
  3. Select Selective startup and uncheck Load startup items.
  4. Select the Services tab.
  5. Check Hide all Microsoft services.
  6. Note: Skipping this step may prevent your computer from rebooting correctly.
  7. Click Disable all.
  8. Click Apply then click OK.
  9. Click Restart.

Alright, so I found the issue. If anyone else is having this problem or with another program or volume the issue was ASUS Armoury Crate.

Go to Scenario profiles in Armoury Crate, and delete the profile or change the volume in the profile.

If you don’t have Armoury Crate I would recommend either doing what Jambrix said or going through task manager and ending programs until you find the culprit.
Thanks for helping, Nicole and Jambrix.
