Overwatch - ban - background programs?

Hey all,

i’m not here to complain all i want to know is if anyone knows what background programs might be responsible for being banned from OW for “hacks” - i’m trying to narrow down possibilities, i got a ban yesterday and the email gives no information so trying to check if i inadvertently have something running that’s caused this. I’ve already submitted a ticket , please no responses about submitting tickets, no responses about cheating/hacking etc; i honestly only want to know of anything that may have flagged Blizzard that i may be unaware of, i’m not here for personal opinions.

Well, if you were smart enough to make chat spamming macros -> you getting banned cause no macros are allowed :thinking:

Or audio spam macros

Doesn’t Valorant give OW problems? Their anti-cheat I mean.

i went to look into macros once for WoW and just went…nope i have no idea lol.

The only Blizzard games i’ve ever cheated on are the original warcraft games for wood and gold haha, mind you i was a child.

i heard its valorants cheat engine thats responsible for it, if you installed that game, that can be it

Another game with a extremely invasive anti cheat system

So much anti viruses think its a virus

For all Blizzard games any programs or bugs that automates any function of game play or gives a distinct exploitative advantage is against the terms of service. Programs or functions of certain programs that are typically banned includes Macros, Aimbots, TriggerBots, Wallhacks, GFX Editors, Nuking, and Stat Trackers.

the valorant anti cheat im pretty sure(but dont quote me on that)

No, and you can turn it off now when you play other games.
I have had Valorant from like 4 days of it’s release into closed beta.

I have Valorant installed and have no issues, so idk.

I think that one is funny, because for a lot of gaming mice, macro software is just part of the basic install.

Take the Razor mice, you plug them in, and it installs it’s basic drivers and setup, which includes a macro system. It is like, a lot of extra steps to remove them.

Blizzard doesn’t stop software with Macros, but they have protocols in place to detect macros.

Yeah I think given the amount of Blizz licensed stuff Razer make, it’s unlikely their software is going to get caught up in something like this.

someone said to me because i have a logitech mouse this could be the issue because it uses macro’s - i had no idea but now i’m wondering…

I use the iCUE corsair software as I have profiles setup to auto switch based on what game/program I click into (mainly different games)
I have one for OW where my mouse side buttons change, no macro’s but it may be picked up.

  • Vanguard (?) [ I play Valorant regularly and do not disable Vanguard Anticheat before starting Overwatch. No problems yet ]

  • some old / unknown drivers

Since you are the one who got banned, it would be interesting to see a list of all your installed software + Windows version. :grinning:
