Overwatch Arcane Cinematic Series

Anyone think that Overwatch should do a cinematic series just like Arcane. I think it would definitely help revive the game and make it very popular again. And honestly, it’d be a huge success if they do it properly because their animation is top tier and the OW lore is also pretty interesting. I feel if they do it, it’d be a make or break for Overwatch

Yep yep, it’s been discussed. Would come out to a pretty penny, since we’d accept no less than a Pixar commission, penned by Aaron Sorkin.

Yup and it’s the reason I have what is written below saved in my notes so whenever the question appears I can copy and paste it:

If we get an Overwatch series I want it to be about growing up in the omnic crisis. Specifically Baptiste since he grows up in it and joins Overwatch as an adult after escaping from Mauga. I made this post a while ago of what I would imagine the first episode to be like.

First episode starts with a bomb explosion and some high frequency noise and blurry vision, orange/red colour pallette for the whole scene to show everything is on fire, gun fire from bastion units in the background can be heard faintly, screams of pain and sadness from civilians, fighter jets zooming, and then you cut to the scene to how Baptiste became an orphan and his stance with a rock in his hand standing up to a Bastion unit.

The rest of the show will basically be his origin story but drawn out with his time in the Caribbean Coalition and Talon but end with him escaping Mauga, contacting Sombra and joining the new Overwatch team.

Season 2 they can show what caused Baptiste’s origin story. The Omnic Crisis. But this time pull an overwatch genesis and start the show with the creation of omnics and show at some point how they all start getting controlled, wars starting and the formation of overwatch. End season 2 with the end of the crisis and go to season 3 with overwatch activity after this crisis and the formation of blackwatch ending with the retribution mission as the cliffhanger finale to make people say “oh no what’s going to happen now that the world knows about blackwatch”.

Season 4 the fall of overwatch. Season 5 move away from overwatch and do 1 off seasons or movies focusing on other things like Doomfist rise to Talon leader + Talon activities, Junkerqueen origin, Shimada story etc.

i do believe there was a cancelled OW project with netflix if the rumours are to be believed. (i think it was scrapped tho?)

arcane s1 cost riot over 250M and took 5 years to complete, but the animation presented in arcane is the future of what animation could be

You’re right, Aaron said that we were gonna get a handful of Blizzard IP shows on Netflix, plans being made back in 2018 I believe. Diablo, StarCraft (he had to correct himself as he said Warcraft at first) and of course Overwatch. But then Netflix had to ruin everything by poaching their “Chief Financial Officer” while he was mid contract, something that Netflix actually did with Fox and Viacom and got in trouble both times… so Blizzard took them to court in 2020… but there’s no results for that case or if it’s still going or what.

What we do know is Netflix quickly cancelled all the plans and we have nothing. All because they have a poaching addiction, apparently.

They stopped making annual short cinematic like they used to, I don’t think a full blown Arcane-like series is even in the book.

that could the reason, i cant honestly see massive companies refusing to make money together over a single person, there has to be more to that story.

in the end, like trade wars, we the consumer lose
