Overwatch and its sad future

Haven’t played OW in like 1 or 2 months, coming back and see that this game is still in a bad situation and there are other topic who explain what is not good in this game…

well gonna be a long time then when i will start this game again.
Also most of the Streamer who loved the game switched to other games because the fun in this game was too big for them

So after two months you picked the game back up, or you perused the forums to confirm your biased opinion on OW?

Honestly I would say Streamers are a bad way to judge a game imo. They make the most views off the biggest hype, what ever is new and flashy. Playing the same game for a long period of time rarely works out well for them.

Sure you might get lucky and be one of the big stars that has a huge dedicated fan base but if that game falls do you have the time and skill to switch still? Think of all those people who stuck by games like Destiny no matter what and then eventually decided to leave D2 after the doors were shutting down.

But yeah I would say OW has some problems. Content updates are far and few between, the Lore is a mess despite all their efforts with animations, comics and extra fluff. Balance patches just seem to randomly swing who’s OP and who’s useless around from one season to the next.

But most of all the game is getting old without much to show for it. If you add all the maps and all characters together that have been added since launch, you might get two or 3 good DLC’s out of it, not much for a game that has been out for 2 years. Back when they used to sell us that kind of stuff there would be a DLC every 6 months or more. If it wasn’t for the E sport scene I would ask when Overwatch 2 would come out but that could mess their whole system up as shown with how poorly Starcraft 2 did vs the original in E sports.

ok i justified myself, clearly i haven’t played the game for 2 days and didn’t saw that nothing has changed

For the millionth time.

A few streamers leaving the game to shill out to Fortnite doesn’t mean the game is in decline. Twitch isn’t an accurate metric of the vitality of a game…especially a Blizzard title.

H1Z1 was the top trending game back in what, 2016? How’s it doing now?

You can like… go play other games instead of complaining after wanting to quit for 2 months if the game doesn’t suit you anymore.

I think it mostly comes down to the game trying to be both competitive and casual at the same time. People hold a wide variety of expectations for the game for this reason.

If you’re looking for a short term, casual experience.
This game is for you. If you’re looking for long term goals and improvements, i can’t really recommend the game.

The game wants accessible characters to be as strong as those that are hard to master. Sometimes even stronger. (Mercy being stronger than Ana for example) You could have 200 hours on a character only to get roflstomped by a player playing your hardcounter for the 10th hour. Unless of course, you swap.

So think wisely when you want to pick up a difficult character. It takes a loooong time to pick those hard characters up. And it’s not going to be worth it.
You’re better off playing a hand full of the easier heroes for those 200 hours instead. So when you do get hard countered, you can at least opt to something else.

So yeah, it’s a great casual experience. But don’t expect much in the long run.

There is also the issue of rampant balance changes. Nerfs, Buffs and complete reworks are being thrown about like candy these days. You never know when you log in what your hero might be like. In fact you literally won’t know because half the time the patch notes don’t really tell you anything, a lot of stealth nerfs/buffs get thrown in there.

You could put hundreds of hours into mastering a hero just to find out their dmg had been halved over night or perhaps they were reworked so much like Symetra that it’s effectively a brand new character and your experience means nothing.
