After playing overwatch 2, a lot of my friends who played it for more than a month and myself agree that overwatch 1 MORE enjoyable.
It’s a really difficult task to make overwatch 1 seem fun but somehow overwatch 2 did the job, someone at the team thought killing tank was a good idea, but it’s not so you might want to revert that change before the overhype dies by December
Overwatch 2 is basically quake but a bit worse, even the people in twitch rivals kept saying “wanna go back to overwatch 1”
idk what it is but beta 2 felt like a complete failure or rather severely underwhelming as opposed to the first beta. 1st beta felt fun and well, then idk what happened to the 2nd beta. i think it has to do with the recent decisions with the devs in the 2nd beta that has turned me down primarily such as the accursed “$40 to get into the beta first,” weird recent balance changes on some heroes, etc etc.
so far, not looking forward to OW2 after whats happened on the 2nd beta. just dont feel as excited. hopefully they reconsider and follow back on the philosophy they had during the 1st beta. that was a great time
Tbh it was fine, just missing whatever magic they need to make Support be more desirable to play, and the marketing/access/balance timing kinda sucked.
Like telling a good joke, but with incorrect vocal tone, timing, and partially screwing up the delivery of the punchline.
Like it’s still “good quality” just the delivery needs improving.
It will probably take longer than a month. It’s going to have that “shiny new thing” for atleast a few months.
But I’m not sure the game would survive even if it was amazing. I think Blizzard kinda made their bed awhile ago. And they’re gonna have to lie in it no matter what.
Agreed. They’re listening to the DPS players which is killing the game for supports. Most likely the same thing that happened in OW1 to tanks is going to happen in OW2 to supports.
I see a lot of “your positioning actually matters now” as if they haven’t made it 10x easier for DPS to flank now that they’ve removed a supports biggest peel (off-tank.) leaving them to fend for themselves, as their tank is holding space and the DPS are off terrorizing the enemy support.
So unless an Ana can react to a rocket and 10 bullets to the back to turn around and outdamage a soldier then they’re dead.
Also this new Fox girl will probably solve support queue times for a week tops, just how Sigma did in Ow1.
Honestly, I’m getting skeptical that fox girl will have a big impact on queue times if they don’t figure out a direction for the rest of the supports. The Moira and Mercy reworks were met with mixed reception at best. I fully expect the any supports who saw significant use in beta 2 to get nerfed. Won’t be surprised if the self regen gets reduced or removed.
Thank you, dear prophet. A game that doesn’t get any updates actually has a better chance than one that will start getting some.
I think people are rightly frustrated that OW1 is being treated very badly to make OW2 look the best, but I also think there is little to be done now: not long before October and since then there will only be one “ow2” to update.
Well, its good to know that the game lives and dies based on you and your friends!
If half like it, no reason to believe that of the remaining naysayers like the guy above, you will still get probably 3/4 of that set, they ain’t going anywhere. Literally several millions of players will pour in on Oct 4th as new players… many will stay, not all of course, but many. I would expect by December the active pop to be at least 6-8 million, quite possibly more.
Now that everyone is getting over the hype of it being new they’re starting to notice the massive imbalance and that OW2 doesn’t really address the problems in OW1.
On behalf of the Quake community, I award you the following emoji:
Oh great, this emoji is not allowed to be posted here. I wonder why I can select it in the first place.
People put up with a lot of BS when OW1 first came out because it was new. They’re not going to be as generous with OW2. They’re not going to be patient with it
