Overwatch 2 was a mistake

We still would’ve gotten 9 New Heroes by now if Overwatch kept its usual Release Schedule.

November 2019.
March 2020 (Echo).
July 2020.
November 2020.
March 2021.
July 2021.
November 2021.
March 2022.
July 2022.
November 2022 (Sojourn, Junker Queen, Kiriko and Ramattra, roughly).

That’s 4 new Heroes in the time we could’ve gotten 9.

You could even subtract ALL of 2020 because of the Pandemic and we’d still have 6 Heroes, 2 more than what we have now.

And even with a Doubled-Up Developer Team, New Heroes are still 3 times a Year, Balance got worse with characters like Sojourn and the whole thing is taking way longer too.

Those missing months must have gone into designing the four new UI buttons.

I was better in OW1. I am now horrible in OW2.

That was me going from Counter Strike Source to CS:GO. I was like what? What happened? It plays the same lol.

I’d like to buy OW3 and get all the heroes

…I suspect they actually have a few more heroes ‘ready’ but are just holding them so they can easily meet the release schedule… :upside_down_face:

Or save them for Season 5 and Season 7, just incase Season 3’s Battle-Pass doesn’t sell well because it doesn’t have a Hero.

Yeah. The planned roadmap might all be ready for all we know. Just waiting for release.

But Id like to think thats not the case.

…ohh good point. So they’ll ‘test the waters’ with a non-hero BP and if it tanks suddenly ‘release a hero every BP’ like they’re being nice… :upside_down_face:

…wouldn’t surprise me although it kinda makes sense to have a plan b, c, d, etc…

They need a ‘Plan A’ first, considering how little thought they must’ve put into this ‘Sequel’.

Oh who would’ve thought, the doomers were right all over again

…lol, I think the OW2 ‘launch’ was a little light on content (only 3 heroes c’mon), but I’ll reserve proper judgement for the PvE but for me, that’s gonna be their last main chance to get a huge amount of eyeballs on the game…

I find it truly sad that game being called OW2 was designed to be pay to win, and progressively moreso with each passing season

this was a horrendously bad decision imo…very very bad for any game with a competitive element.

It wasn’t a mistake in my eyes. Overwatch 2 should have waited another year before updating Overwatch 1. This all just needed more time. If it dropped with the PvE and with a few more characters I think it would have been easier to handle. But they must have been desperate for money. Because all and all the shop and battle pass seems to be the main focus right now.

Calling it “Overwatch 2” was a lazy way to go about it. Extremely lazy… adding orange to everything in a game and saying " we added more stuff " also was mis leading.

The fact that nothing (if very little changed) didn’t help the game at all.

I don’t think ow2 was a mistake, but I don’t feel like they learned anything from the prior game either.

The issue is the entire primary reason for OW2 was PvE. And to drop some of the legal promises Jeff Kaplan made. Then it drops with only one of those two purposes.
