Overwatch 2: The Bad Copycat

Overwatch 2 is a bad copycat to Valorant, and Paladins because it will utilize the 5v5 comp. Also, I compare it to Fortnite because of Battle Passes.

What is the incorrect part about Overwatch 2’s elements as being the bad copycat?

Don’t most competitive games nowadays do 5v5 comps? Pretty much every game is either 5 or 3 man teams, but if there are multiple team roles they generally do groups of 5.

The only other game I can really think of having more is TF2. I actually remember being surprised when I first started playing Overwatch and saw it had teams of 6.

I remember quite well how much they insisted on balancing the game around 2-2-2. lately I see a lot of people forget how ridiculous it was to see cyclic nerfs on tanks because they were easily combinable with each other (and not just double barriers).

I don’t know if 5v5 will save OW2, but surely the simplification of the teams makes more sense than suggesting a possible 7v7 (2-3-2) or the classic proposal to introduce 2 queues for the “off” and “main” tanks. this doesn’t necessarily make Ow2 a copycat, there are many other games prior to paladins that feature 5v5. and no offense but the valorant example is also ridiculous only for the genre of gameplay (more similar to counter strike and more suitable for deathmatch lovers).

the battlepass? more attributable to the consequence of making the game F2P and to the increase in laws against lootboxing, even before the “trend” started especially by Fortine. and having no idea what a “classic OW2 battle pass” is in principle, this criticism seems anonymous to me until we have some real info about it. :man_shrugging:

Valorant?

OW2 copied Valorant?

Okay, where is my one-shot body shot instant kill hitscan from across the map Sniper Rifle?

This explains how gamers act nowadays.

Game: does one thing similar to another game

OH MY GOD GUYS WHAT A RIP OFF DUDE ITS JUST A COPY

You know how many games were 5v5 before paladins or valorant???

League of Legends is one of them. I figured that Overwatch 2 is inevitable to copying the 5v5 comp and Battle Passes from the listed games.

Wow the kiddie trolls are out in force. Slow day apparently.

LOL the sheer insanity of saying OW copied those games… shows someone with no grasp of history.

Just kiddie trolls, ignore them, they should be working on their homework instead of posting here.

You do realise that there are plenty of games that use the 5v5 format right?

Yeah don’t feed the troll.

Valorant is more like counter strike or cod, its doesnt actually play like ow

funny you mentioned paladins, the game that can barely hold 10k players.

Oh god are you far off its unbelievable…

BP is now in every game since a few years. Fortnite started this trend but it replaces the RNG model of lootboxes other games still have in place. Its now a common thing in every game. Also just because you copy a business model you dont copy the game.

Then… Valorant? The colorful CoD clone? Dude. This game and OW only have heroes/ agents in common but thats were it already ends. Valorant is a hide a seek with fights that last 3 seconds and are weapon focused, while OW is a objective based fight the complete game with focus on abilities and synergies.

So neither of your points are good or even remotely true at all.

Its because its not HighRez focus anymore. They concentrate on the new Roghe Company or so game and the BR that they have.

They still bring out content but the game runs on terrible servers and has game breaking bugs. But it still has better hero design than OW in some cases and a LOT more heroes. Oh also they continue the lore every season. So there are a lot of things OW could learn from Paladins.

i played it for a couple years. Id say they have the worst hit boxes and gun play of any modern fps on the market

people are not willing to over look that for anything positive it does these days. it does have some nice features and heroes though

Thats is true. It plays pretty strange in that regard. The maps are also pretty badly build in same places. It 100% has it flaws but its a shame that it goes down that way. I put 200 hours in it a few some months ago.

How’d the anti-healing mechanic feel? I only played when Cauterize was back at 90% healing at tier 3.

Anti-healing mechanic seems to be Paladin’s way to tyring to deal with high sustain. I saw some comments saying 2 tank, 2 support, 1 dps was the most efficient comp usually.

It builds up during the game (90% max at 9 or 12 minutes or so). Its fine but annoying if you play support. You are forced to DPS more and just heal when they are not get shot. Its possible and supports are build that way.

Because paladins and Valorant play completely differently then OW2, that and there are dozens of games made over the last 20 years or so that used 5v5 as basic balance point.

With battle passes becoming the standard for the industry, since loot boxes have become a gambling concern.

One can argue that Overwatch is doing nothing revolutionary with its Shooter. The only thing that might be fairly unique is its PvE.
