Overwatch 2 ONLY GAME THAT LAGS

I’m curious if anyone else is having this issue, OW2 has very weird lag spikes for me. Some issue I run into is lag while firing which messes my aim up immensely, the hero will randomly fire and won’t stop even with my hand off the mouse, delayed movement, and pulling up the scoreboard and it will stay on screen for an extended amount of time.

I have the BEST internet I can have with Spectrum (live in a city), my computer is very new and drivers and windows are updated. Precise mouse aim is on, I seriously don’t get it, none of my other games lag… I have even flushed my DNS, scanned and repaired files, reinstalled, set priority to high. Anyone else have any tips?

Hey there,

Do the lag spikes show up if you look for them in the Network Graph? While in a match press Ctrl + Shift + N to open the graph and see if you can take a screenshot of the problem if it shows up there. If you can get a screenshot of it you can upload it to imgur.com and post the link to the hosted image.

I’d also try running WinMTR to look for any packet loss or latency spikes. Connection issues could cause the shooting issue and delayed movement, but the scoreboard issue sounds strange.

  1. Download WinMTR
  2. Right-click on the downloaded .zip folder and select “Extract All”, to extract the files to a new folder.
  3. Open the new folder that was created, then open the WinMTR_x64 folder.
  4. Right-click on the WinMTR application and select “Run as administrator”.
  5. Launch Overwatch and join a match. Once you’re in the match, press Ctrl+Shift+N to open the Network Graph.
  6. Look for the server name displayed in brackets and the IP address at the top. Note you will need to remove the colon and port number after the IP address before running the test. (12.345.67 .89:PORT)
  7. Alt+Tab back to WinMTR, then type the server IP address in the “Host” field.
  8. Click on “Start” and Alt+Tab back into the game. Allow the test to run for at least 10 minutes or the duration of a match. Click on “Stop” when you’re done playing after you have experienced the latency or connection issue.
  9. Click on “Copy Text to Clipboard”, paste the results here, then highlight everything and hit the </> button in the posting section so it will allow links.

i have this issue too. and my game mechanics slow down so i can’t aim. i’ve gotten used to it, and it’s definitely not my computer.

i main widow/mercy/dva and i swear to god sometimes the game mechanics are so slow its like moving through molasses…

Is there documentation about what each section of the netgraph is detailing? No one I ask seems to know with absolute certainty and it should not be considered a trade secret.

Head to the Diagnosing Overwatch Network Problems support article, click the drop down and select Network Graph, then expand the “More Information” section.

You rock! Thank you.

You may have some conflicting drivers installed. Previously I had a lot of random applications and leftover junk from other applications that for some reason was conflicting with my drivers. I went through my computer with revo uninstaller and got rid of anything I did no recognize and then reinstalled only the necessary drivers and everything seems to be working properly now. I am using an Asus videocard and Gigabyte motherboard. For some reason the problem would show up in Overwatch and I think there was one other game but since going through and cleaning up the system I have not noticed the lag spikes.

We all have this problem. Didn’t have any of this in the beta, than they started to release patches and boom. Game is barely playable since the Onepunch update.

Edit: I just needed to restart my computer.
