So much has been changed or removed that I feel little motivation to play the game anymore. I didn’t get all the skins before 2, I missed the window to use my points, and now I will never have them because I refuse to pay $20+ or grind 4 weeks for something that was free before. There’s no loot boxes, credits, levels, or borders anymore but they kept endorsements, only for your team though. The battle pass does nothing but kick me in the gut mocking the charm the first game had.
Overwatch 1 players get no compensation for any of the changes except for being given a warning to use points and open boxes and not having to unlock everyone. We were told the game would stay up and be cross-compatible with 2 and instead they cheap out and shut down 1 to reuse the server for 2. We all know that the DDoS was just their servers giving out on them because they didn’t want to upgrade. This isn’t the game we were promised, it plays almost the same but every aspect feels worse.

support is really fun now (assuming ur not a mercy main in which case just uninstall till next patch). the other roles are meh to play imo
When Overwatch 2 was just a PvE expansion and not a financial rebranding they had stated that players who had bought 2 and not 1 and vice versa would still be able to play together, on the same maps with the same characters.
The forum wont let me post links but if you google Overwatch 2 announcement 2019 you will see articles stating Kaplan had said so. This was also before Kaplan left so im glad they defiled his work

These 5v5 games are so dull and boring, with no focus that it honestly do feel sad trying to play it. They sucked the soul right out of the game somehow.

I mean, he also said we would be keeping 6v6 and that didn’t pan out. They said nothing about OW1 sticking around in the last year or two. They were quite clear in all their promotional material and updates that it would 100% be an update to OW1 and would as such be overwriting it.
Stuff they said in 2019 basically means nothing now.
I agree with you though, I wish they kept OW1, even without updates it’s still the better game in my opinion.
Idk why, but 5v5 in OW2 feels more empty than 5v5 in Valorant. There’s certainly a lot of upsides to 5v5 with only one tank. But I feel like more work needs to be done with 5v5 to make it just as fun as 6v6.
It’s hard to figure out what’s causing this “empty” feeling though. Is it from team fights ending too quickly? Some maps being too large for 5v5? Or something else?
The worst offender is the push gamemode. Everybody just runs on the point one by one.

To be honest can’t figure out what Tank or Tanks feel great in Role Queue. Having a hard time maybe just quit the role entirely. Push is terrible overall
