Imagine if they released AT LEAST 3 new heroes and not just Sojourn, I would be hyped AF.
I don’t think there was a time I wasn’t hyped whenever they’re announcing a new hero.
except for Baptiste since he literally just popped out of nowhere
If they do decide to do that, it will probably ignite my excitement for Overwatch again.
One can only hope.
Through their wording, they’ve implied at least five, so I would say at least three is very likely.

Eh.
Blizzard lately has been overpromising and underdelivering so I wouldn’t set my expectations that high.

I wouldn’t say they’re very high at all.
Just look at the number of maps we’re getting (With a load more not revealed yet) and note that maps and heroes seemingly used to take roughly the same amount of time to develop following the original release schedule.
They dropped OW1 to start “developing” on OW2 but somehow I still find it hard to believe that new content in OW2 aren’t cut content from OW1.

I’ve noticed that also. Not really a good idea in the long run to continue that trend.
I worry they have set themselves up for a harsh response when the very replayable PvE content isn’t very replayable at all. Most PvE games won’t get you more than 2 play throughs. They are by nature very repetitive and get boring fast.

Okay, that just seems like more reason to believe that “at least three” heroes with OW2 is highly likely.
Could you name some of the games you’re talking about here, just for reference?
And besides, the supposedly highly replayable part won’t be part of a “playthrough”. They’ll be the hero missions, of which there will apparently be hundreds.
Been playing video games for 40 years, so it is a fairly extensive list I’m not going to compile.
If it is 100s of different missions, then that isn’t replayable that is new missions. If the missions are just repetitive though, it’ll get dull pretty quickly. Especially with the skill tiers mechanics they are adding, which I find takes a lot of the fun out of PvE games. Instead of challenging those types of games are just frustrating until you tier you character up to a level it becomes easy. Fairly lazy game design IMO.
So far I am significantly underwhelmed with their apparent direction for the game. I’m sure they will be doing a good job with their ideas, unfortunately I think their ideas are bad. Just based on what they have said about the game.

I said some, not all. I was asking for examples
I was just making a point that it isn’t meant to be replayable for a number of “playthroughs” like you said, which to me indicates a lack of understanding about the PVE content we’re getting.
Obviously. That’s just the nature of repetitive things. Currently I am convinced this won’t be the case. Different maps, different map layouts each time you play, different team comps, different enemy factions, different types of objectives, different weather effects… A lot of factors to make each and every mission play out differently.

I expect we get in the best scenario 3 heroes. We already were shown Soujorn, so there are 2 more. I also expect they get the hero reworks right so we don’t end up in a situation where some characters are left to rot in an unplayable state and others dominate the game for yet another 3 years
That’s fair. You very well may be correct. I’m just not as optimistic based on what they have shared so far.
Though “highly replayable” means something very different than “100s of missions” to me. When they said highly replayable PvE content I literally laughed out loud. As I couldn’t imagine Blizzard has found the secret formula for replayable PvE that no game maker has ever accomplished to date. Them not achieving that would not be a failure had they not claimed that. But if they meant as you suggested 100s of unique missions would accomplish a similar result and I would not complain about that if the PvE ends up enjoyable to play.
I applaud your optimism. I’m having a hard time finding it in their updates and I am usually an optimistic person by default.
4 silhouettes, Sojourn and Mauga. At least 6.
Plus Junkerqueen assuming she wasn’t one of the silhouettes

Well Jeff did mention they were working on various tanks and supports in past…
I think a rewsonable guess would be we are getting sojourn…junker queen stuff was seen in promos….mauga I believe was also hinted at possibly being a hero before (ended up being npc for archives)…Jeff hinted at a dog…and you got dreads from archives as well…
That’s 5 that I think are probable….if I take Jeff at his word then I don’t think 6-8 heroes is unreasonable….
But who knows
This is news to me!
Where can I see these silhouettes?

They have more than 6 months for heroes devs, and 2 months teasers before OW2L gameplay.
WoW Mythic + for OverWatch.
For sure we are. I mean we know Sojourn is one.
My guess is this: Two Brawlers/ three DPS (one is Sojourn) / two Supports (I am betting Overlord from MEKA Squadron is one) - I think they want enough so an an entire team of roles could be all new characters - this tells me 1 Brawler/2 DPS/2 Supports at a minimum. Given the teasing on several concepts, like Dreadlock Omnic and Mauga, I think it’s safe to say at least two new Brawlers and Doom in that role.
Now, the other aspect is certain characters are changing roles - notably Doom is almost certainly moving to Brawler since they will most of the CC and his entire kit is CC cheese.
I am opposed to it, but Sym might move to Support and be in F-tier hell forever, but hey, a vocal group is pushing it
