Overwatch 2 black screen crash on PC, despite good hardware

BLIZAAAAAAARD:speaking_head::speaking_head::speaking_head:

My pc keeps crashing every-time I try to play a quick match of Overwatch 2, and I keep getting SUSPENDED because of it.

I have tried EVERYTHING:

  • Resetting Windows 11
  • Updating NVIDIA drivers
  • Sfc /scannow (passed)
  • DxDiag (passed)
  • Switching to DX11
  • Switching out RAM sticks
  • Turning on fans to extreme to rule out any overheating issues
  • Benchmarked through 3DMark THREE times and passed
  • Contacting Blizzard themselves
  • Updating motherboard BIOS to F66 (download posted on September 2024)
  • Defragmented all my discs
  • Set Overwatch 2 to low settings
  • Tried to use AMD FS instead of NVIDIA DLSS
  • Set Overwatch 2 to compatibility mode
  • Ran Overwatch 2 as administrator
  • Disabled full-screen optimization
  • Windows Memory Diagnosis (passed)

Only thing I DIDN’T try is undervolting.

Ever since the newest patch came out, my PC has just been crashing non-stop. And I did everything in MY power to prevent this from crashing, and nothing works. No matter how many YouTube tutorials I look at.

I. NEED. HELP. I wanna play Overwatch with my friend, but I can’t on my PC, despite it having great specs:

Specs:
Ryzen 5 3600
NVIDIA RTX 4060ti (no OC) 16gb
Aorus B450 Wifi
Corsair Vengeance RGB 32gb
Seagate 2tb HHD
1tb SSD (not sure which model)
Another 1tb SSD
Corsair RM650 GOLD PSU

Anyone who sees this, please help.

(edit) here’s my dxdiag

Can you post your DxDiag? (You can use PasteBin to post it) and your crash ID which helps Blizz look at the issue.

In the video settings do you see more than 1 GPU listed? Which one is selected?

Questions:

Do i have to post my system ID?
Where can I find the crash ID?

I misread your post. I thought Overwatch was crashing, but it sounds like your whole PC is crashing. Are you getting a blue screen?

Yes.

The BSOD says “SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION”

Hi, volunteer here. Blizzard doesn’t offer official support for blue screen crashes because they point to a hardware issue. This is noted on their support documentation here:

My questions are:

Are you using Windows through BootCamp?

  • This is not supported at all.

This information is incorrect according to the DxDiag, which lists 1 SSD and 2 mechanical HDDs.

SSD:

Drive: C:
Model: WDS500G3X0C-00SJG0

HDDs:

Drive: D:
Model: ST2000DM008-2FR102

Drive: S:
Model: APPLE HDD HTS547575A9E384

Which drive is Overwatch installed on?

  • HDDs do not meet the system requirements for any of the modern Blizzard titles.

Edit: Swapped to another support doc because a duplicate thread with more info was merged into this one.

Does your system have 2 GPUs that are the same? If so, are they enabled in an SLI configuration? If they are in SLI try disabling that in the driver control panel.

No. Just one GPU. … I have another issue: I keep getting a grey screen with a loading wheel.

The drive is probably too slow.

Overwatch is installed on the SSD

I’m not sure if it’s running through BootCamp

Now, after I installed the latest NVIDIA drivers, and the latest Windows update (24H2), now I’m getting a grey screen with the loading wheel on it, and I had to hard reset my PC. Please help.

And no it’s not a hardware issue, because I benchmarked both my GPU and my CPU and they passed with flying colors.

Is the computer a Mac?

No. It’s Windows 11.

The only other step I can recommend is to roll back the updates that started this problem.

I get a “CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED” BSoD during quick play games.

Then you need to visit a PC technician.
