When comes to Overwatch the game can be quite chaotic. With that being said each hero have their abilities that can either turn the tide of battle, simply abuseb or work in combo and yet each hero of some sort have similar aspects and abilities towards their original counterpart and not their counterparts.
For example take a look at Moira and Zenyatta both have orbs as their regular ability and do the same thing however the way they both played and designed are different. Moira has an ability to fade in and out of fights while also being use to traverse and fake out the enemies which gives her a better survivability than Zen. Zen can float which makes him stealthy than Moira. Their ultimates are different from each other Moira can heal and damage while Zen can heal, however they are both counter play by some regular abilities in game. They don’t have their own individual passive ability and no a snap kick doesn’t count as one, but a role passive ability. So what’s wrong with this?
Well let’s look at their ultimates. Zenyatta’s Ultimate is not as good as it should. Zenyatta’s ultimate is supposed to save teammates from non big ult fights and big ult fights. It has been reduced from an team survivability ult to a solo survivability ult. Let’s take a look Zarya and Kiriko regular abilities. Zarya bubbles has more than one ability apart form absorbing the damage that turns her into an glass cannon and protects teammates from incoming damage or CC, it also cleanses any negative effects that has been inflicted onto a teammate. Kiriko with her Suzu ability cleanses and briefly becoming invulnerable. Zenyatta’s ultimate should be doing more than just healing. Well if that’s the case than the argument I see happening is going to be Ramattra’s ult because both Zen and Ram are monk’s and Blizzards have a light vs dark theme going on here.
Another example Cassidy’ magnetic grenade and Tracer’s pulse bomb. Both of these abilities serve the same purpose. They both stick to a target that you want to eliminate however Cassidy magnetic grenade better is because it causes hindering which makes it difficult to use any movement abilities. Another example is Junker Queen’s ult, Kiriko’ s ult and Ana’s nade and ult. Junker Queen’s ult and Ana’s nade both prevents healing on the enemy team however the main takeaway is the duration on these abilities. Ana’s ult increases a teammates damage and reduces damage taken while Kiriko’s ult increases attack speed and your movement basically the takeaway on this is speed vs strength.
When it comes down to it is there too much going on with the regular abilities, ultimate abilities, passive abilities and role abilities?
