How can it be preserved, not classic editions but original overwatch as it was.
Would it be possible to emulate the server or something like unreal tournament 4 alpha or battleborn does .
The more I think about it , it feels so bad that we lost that game.
Like we really lost it something that was in our hands not even old games suffer this fate but overwatch this thing we enjoyed for 7 years is actually lost and gone 
It was better in many ways, it felt better.
Can blizzard just released some source code for it and some server stuff to run it .

Actually ms has been pretty lenient on those , even released dos4.0 source code recently.
Outside halostudios they are pretty modder friendly.

If we - the community as a whole - demanded that they bring back the OW1 client separately then they probably would!
I tried to campaign for this years ago even before OW2âs release but my efforts to build up just such a movement were met with apathy!

NO the old builds would definitely be there and with a bit of tinkering they can patch it to use some open server or even theirs.
I wish it would happen, for the Day 1 OGs.
I mean, they have WoW Classic, why not OW Classic as a spin-off?

World of warcraft is on the level of fortnite, minecraft, and call of duty in terms of public awareness and lexicon. Overwatch didnât do for the industry or blizzard what WoW was able to do.
The magic spark doesnât automatically come back if they released âClassic OWâ - every amazing âeraâ in gaming is a combination of the right game, at the right time, with the right player base. Wow was an easier re-release because there was measurable demands in the way of private servers, whereas OW has no such benefit - and even so it was like pulling teeth to get blizzard to actually do it.
Gut says the possibility of an OW classic is between 0% to 0.1%. Exceedingly unlikely.

There is a discord server called plasmawatch and they are currently working on an overwatch 1 emulator. They have just recently figured out how to get to the main menu. If anyone here is good at coding and reverse engineering it would be great if you can check them out, i can post a link to the discord if any of you want it.

Theyâll not release the source code while overwatch is still active because of competition and hackers.

IF someone decides to make Overwatch 1 from release day and throws it up on a PRIVATE SERVER. Good for them.
This company has lost its direction. I mean yeah back in the day they sued everyone and anyone for making Private WoW servers and banned their accounts for mentioning it. But the bottom line is that was âthenâ this is now.
Blizzardâs reputation was already going down the drain when Activision took over, but lets just be very clear. This isnât Uncle Jeff and Micheal Morheim running the show anymore. Its not even J. Allen Brack anymore.
Its a bunch of crooks at Microsoft that bought another title. They donât care about it.
Same with Dead by daylight. heck I will never play retail of anything BHVR inc anymore. Its laughable that their crummy devs at BHVR inc are losing out to private server versions of the game. You know⌠back when the game was scary af and not some stupid fashion show cringe-worthy gymnastics game like it is now.

Thanks will check it out, but I wish blizzard will help it out will be 100x easier.
This is not me berating ow2 or stuff.
But line we seriously canât lose that game it was a huge part of my gaming and life, itâs history, i just want it to exist.
Even the oldest games like ut99 , ultima are getting preserved through emulation and not just any emulation but hardware emulation like pcem 86box.

Eh Iâm over it. It was fun while it lasted but I like OW2 much better. Even if Iâm the only one at this point.
Thatâs ok I just want ow1 to be there to be able to open up and play even if itâs against bots or some pvt discord server.
I donât like it being replaced and lost forever.
Not even pdp games are erased like this.
This is a unique and worst death a game has suffered and worse from their creators themselves.
Itâs animalistic behaviour were the mother kills its own child to make the other kid get all resources.

any updates on plasmawatch? some ppl uploaded a vid of getting basic login and priv scrims going. away from the obvious and egregious rigging ⢠forced by a DDA/EOMM/SBMM live-service.
