I know its almost impossible for overwatch 1 to come back but im very curious if people that have played ow 1 would like the game back exactly how it used to or with some changes or whatever.

yeah? but no matter how many people play it I doubt they bring it back. wich in my opinion they should. not only the maps and characters. the overwatch.exe game. The graphics and everything. What could possibly go wrong?
Well, the only way to find out is to get everyone you can to play the heck out of the upcoming Overwatch Classic mode that’s based on the Oct 2022 patch. It could be that you’re right and OWC will never be a permanent fixture due to lack of dev willingness, but if not enough people play the mode, then the possibility of OW1 not coming back becomes a certainty.
But i thought blizzard would never return overwatch 1. Like i thought it was impossible. They have to do some type of like voting system or something and whatever the commmunity votes its what they do. That would be easy and fast. And by the way when does the 2022 patch ow classic return?
I would guess the mid-season patch, whenever that is. I don’t know for a cold, solid fact though. Sorry.

Personally, I’m certain that I prefer Max 2 Tanks and I hope that it becomes a permanent mode. But I’m just one bloke and if, in fact, there’s a ton of people who want OW1 redux then I won’t stand in their way.
But im talking about the game itself. overwatch.exe or overwatch2.exe . Each one with their graphicas, their gamemodes, heros etc…
Sure, but even then, my answer remains unchanged. I’ll take OW2 Max 2 Tanks over end-of-life OW1 222 RQ. Maybe I’m in the minority here, I dunno.
Not to say that I wouldn’t like some stuff brought back, though. An optional OW1 skin for the interface would be cool. They’ve talked about bringing the end-of-game card system back and that was a neat feature.
yeah thats fair. I wish they did some kind of voting to choose between one or another or just do surveys to the community on what we want or not
It depends what you mean by “Overwatch 1”.
If it simply means releasing the old content and patches back, removing new heroes and maps, it’s not worth it.
If “OW1 coming back” means keeping what’s already been released so far but only switching back the P2P version and paying once for tons of content at once (and regular updates), then it could have some potential.
However, I’m realistic : the F2P scam model still has many glory years to come before customers stick together and state “we want none of it anymore”.
The only way to get rid of the F2P monetization is to collectively boycott cosmetics (in every popular F2P games). Ain’t happening soon since all it takes for weebs to jump on it consists of Blizzard releasing “kawaii” skins for a female character (pixels) they thirst over.

I mean like overwatch 1 graphics, interface, visual effects, sound effects, menu. Butr adding new heros and maps. But we would go back to 6v6 old maps etc. adding the new ones ofc
I’m not sure about graphics 'cause even though some people don’t like the slight changes we got in 2022, it’s pretty much the same graphics overall. They didn’t change that much, at least to me.
Same goes for the menu etc… Maybe the dubbing and voicelines were better when Overwatch was a P2P game, I agree.
Well, the more the better. I don’t like 5v5 either but I would still keep it as a side mode for people that like it and have devs focusing on balancing 6v6 as the priority (if they can’t do both).
I would definitely be happy to get 2CP back with new maps, that’s for sure.
yeah i would just copy and paste overwatch1.exe just adding everything added to 2. and make it p2p obviously
In my dream scenario, using the game as it is currently as a base, there would be an option to toggle between the old and new UI, some features from OW1 such as the end-game cards, lfg, and the old hero select-/default highlight-intro-animations would be brought back, and all hero reworks would be reverted. From there, they could honestly kind of just do whatever, I’m not bothered with stuff like new vs old graphics or sound effects, or whether the main gamemode they balance the game around is 6v6 or 5v5, or whether it’s open queue or role queue, as long as a mode without role limits or without hero limits (ideally without both) exists. If some heroes’ kits end up being too problematic, sure, rework them, but do it right this time, without completely butchering the heroes in the process. And lastly, scrap the “2” from the title and just call it Overwatch again, because this was never a real sequel, and it still isn’t.
