Yeah I’m not going to say Torbjörn is OP, but Overload is a ridiculous ability.
Tell me one DPS character who has the power to become invulnerable this way for seconds and seconds, while at the same time being able to deal a ****ton of damage. Lol. None.
Can I say I dislike Torbjörn? People seem free to complain about Hanzo, Widowmaker and Sombra everywhere on the forum, but at the moment someone criticizes Torbjörn, there’s a WTH reaction. I don’t think he is a good character. I don’t think the autoaim turret with that range is a good idea. I don’t think his playstyle is good or helpful in the sense of making players develop skills and awareness. I think the turret and Overload are overly generous, cop-out abilities made for players seeking low risk and high reward games. Players who want it easy.
Except Recall doesn’t increase Tracer’s damage, or make her a “Reaper”. Recall doesn’t give Tracer seconds of increased speed, damage and invulnerability lol. Try again.
I mean, players in low ranks picking heroes that suit their individual skill level instead of feeding on heroes that they have no ability to play deserve the win. Imo.
Except he’s not invulnerable when he uses it and even when using it he still does less DPS than Reaper. I personally think Overload is a little weak, given the 12 second cooldown and the ability itself lasting for only 5 seconds.
“Only” 5 seconds? You’re aware that 5 seconds is a lot and basically a free card that gives him the advantage during any engagement, right? 1v1 engagements in Overwatch typically last less than 5 seconds.
Reaper’s Wraith Form lasts 3 seconds. It is an ability that gives him invulnerability and increased speed, but he is not able to attack during this time. Compare it to Overload lol. How ridiculous.
D’va? I mean she counts.
Bastion gets a damage reduction as well in turret form.
Reaper when he is close to a big target is also very hard to break, and does a lot of damage. Reaper close up is harder to kill than Torb is, and hands it out hard.
But, Reaper can’t ALSO stand back, and also be effective, which Torb does.
The Max HP thing that Torb has is a bit too much. Combined with the increased fire rate and movement speed it just gets ultra annoying to fight him when he turns it on. I’m glad that they nerfed him and tbh he needs further tweaking. We don’t need a rusher Torb, we already have Spamzo to deal with.
Today I was playing D.va, and tracked an enemy Torb who was “Overloading”. It was ridiculous. I tracked him accurately, and the gnome wouldn’t die. Immortal. He demeched me with his gun lol.
Sorry, but a DPS character who wasn’t designed to be a tank buster shouldn’t be able to deal with an aggressive 600 HP off tank so easily, especially not at close ranges. It is BS.
I’m not a huge fan of overload, I liked the armour mechanic as it brought in uniqueness to the character, but saying he becomes invulnerable is wrong. ****ton if he gets into point blank range, if no one decides to intercept him in the mean time. He is in the damage class after all. Personally I’m far more terrified of a mccree/reaper/Tracer/etc coming at me than Torb.
You’re certainly welcome to your opinion. Are you suggesting no one disagree with you on points related to your opinion ie turret being a “cop out” ability. You cannot rely on your turret to do anything other than give your backline some cover from flankers… Despite being a key part of Torb a kit, it really isn’t that strong of an ability if the enemy has range or a barrier.
Run him over with thrusters and by the time you’re back onto him, overload is down and he doesn’t stand a chance.
Don’t bluntly bash your head against him while he’s overloading, use -any- of your own abilities.
Playing D.Va should equally not be a free win ticket when engaging -any- DPS, let alone one who blew a 12 second CD to get 4 seconds of boosted performance.
he is too good at all ranges now. the nerfs are needed. a character with an annoying auto aim spam ability on cool down should not be as strong as skill based characters. forums are low skill biased so they love op torb.
Torb gets obliterated if he tries to engage with Overload. A good opposing team will focus the little troll down real fast.
Its true strength is being used when he gets dived on or people are invading his space.
… which is a good thing, because he’s intended to stand and secure his ground from mobile, flanking larks that think they can get a free kill off of the lolzmeme hero.
In fact, the damage nerf may be just right in directing people to use it defensively instead of mowing tanks down.
Sorry if you don’t like him, but every hero should excel at their role. And if Overload gets rebalanced to where it is less effective to engage but still strong at defending, that’s a good thing for his kit.
Don’t like him? Tough cookies. Every hero has a place and you’re going to have to deal with him when he gets his.
