Overbuff is lying

Why does it says I played 4 days ago. I have not played this game in a solid 2 or so weeks. I do not want people thinking I still play this game.

It still categorizes sym as a support so it technically lies to us all

It doesn’t know the actual dates of your matches, the stats only update when someone visits your page. Nobody viewed it between the last time you played and 4 days ago.

Specifically, it is showing the last time Overbuff updated your profile.

I guess the people that designed the website just assumed that everyone would be playing Overwatch every day :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, private profiles kinda screwed this up tbh

Even without private profiles smurfs and average joes won’t appear if no one bothers to search of them.

If anyone is visiting my Overbuff page, I feel sorry for them. They are seeing dogcrap stats and are looking in the wrong place for skills and stats.

It annoys me to no end that they bothered to rename McCree to Cassidy yet can’t reclassify Sym as a Support

If I had to guess, the way that Overbuff compiles its information is by web scraping public information on people’s profiles provided by Blizzard.

The reason why this is important is because McCree doesn’t exist anymore, so they would have been forced to update his info to continue to update his stats. The way they organize tables probably isn’t related to the way that they scrape information, so they wouldn’t be forced to update it.

Or maybe I’m just wrong. :woman_shrugging:

or could be because changing a name won’t mess up with the already existing stats if it is replaced across the board.

in your post from 6 days ago you said you play 1-2 qp games per day, you also said you played 1 comp game of dps yet neither your overbuff or OW profile has a comp game of dps listed. So are you lying to us or?

but youre here on the forums complaining about a stats site?

Yeah after I wrote my comment I did have a think about it and pondered the idea that maybe hero names and roles are just read from the site so perhaps in the data it reads Sym is still classified as a Support idk

Though I’m pretty sure Overbuff is just there as a way for the owner to make easy revenue money and the owner no longer has much care for it otherwise, regardless of how data is read, they could easily change it

Overbuff still has defense/offense categories years later too.

Why anyone would put stock in that website is beyond me.

Is there any competition ?
From all I know, No, so there’s the answer to that question.

As long as there’s no competition there’s no need to evolve for the ā€œKing/Queenā€ of the food chain.

Overbuff’s been lying.

yes.

wut

Why anyone takes it very seriously without major caveats is beyond me. I’m sure it’s fine for some very specific things or like some public pro or T500 stats (though this is skewed by them making even one alt account, public or not).

I’m not a statistician but from a controlled experiment standpoint regardless of how you want to look at it, the data are biased towards people who opt to have public profiles and who play often enough to dump those stats (nevermind the accuracy of how or where they get the stats from). It’s almost like those self-reported surveys. Overbuff stats are hyperbolically Cosmo sex stats . Regardless of how many people report, it won’t be indicative of the actual ā€˜average player’, and certain things (like smurfs or toxic people who only open their profile to :poop: on others) will be too greatly overrepresented in my opinion.

It’s too bad Blizzard doesn’t release generalized aggregated stats for tiers/MMRs with like tolerances. That’d be the dream. Even so (if you check in your career profile), some of the stats reported are flat-out wrong due to bugs, so who really knows what’s what!?

At the end of the day, (fragmented) stats in this game only really paint a picture, but OW games are lost or won by some very incremental human snap decisions. How many games do you think you’ve been in where a ranged DPS doesn’t stall the point for 0.5s to possibly pull out a win, or your one ult (combo) would’ve changed the L to a W?

We have official OWL stats from Blizz, that’s it. Anything else isn’t reliable

Too late, I’m telling all my friends that Utubey is still playing OW, and I’ll show them your overbuff page as proof.

I played on my alt account. I have not logged into OW on this account in a solid 2 weeks or so.

So you really like to change your mind then.

You play on an alt so people dont think you’re playing the game?
So why are you playing on an alt after making a dramatic post about quiting OW entirely and saying playing on alts is stupid?
