Why does it seem every match I play with people out of my skill rating? (quick play) I’m currently placed silver and have been placed there for around 2 seasons now. In quick play I am put up against plats and high golds in what seems every match. I’ve seen maybe 3 games where I play bronzes and people under my skill level. When I play against people who are around 1k SR higher than me it can he quite tilting. I’ve been sidetracked long enough, why is there such a mismatch in SR? I understand it’s quickplay but that shouldn’t really make a difference.

Your MMR is different than SR. You’re just that good to be playing against Golds and Silvers

SR =/= MMR
You should either feel happy that your MMR is higher than your SR, or disappointed by the same. Either way, it’s the game’s way of saying that in the QP environment, you’re considered “evenly” matched with these opponents.

That was always my theory, however that just creates the problem that your SR and MMR should mirror each other (or close to it)
Yeah SR is different than MMR but when you have very little QP time and a lot of comp then it should use your SR in place of your MMR.
Another option is you build MMR while playing comp too.
Not necessarily. The rule-sets are very different; QP matches are decided by only one effort, attack OR defense, excepting Control. For an example, being decent at attack and terrible at defense could well win you 50% of your QP games, but it may severely cripple your Comp winrate.

I just need to start playing comp more, it should even everything out. Or make it worse. We’ll see lmao
It’s groups, they create really weird MMR situations.
I’ve been in matches where nearly everyone was a masters/GM player except for 1 ~2500 person (me on one side, some other poor guy on the other). Needless to say the masters/GMs were in groups.
That wasn’t a horrible match as it felt pretty balanced, but I’ve had other ugly matches where just one team gets stacked hard. Or you get teams where each team has one GM and the match is pretty much about which one of them carries harder.

I’ve been in a lot of Arcade games tonight were many solo Masters and even one solo GM player was on the other team. My entire team was around mid gold.
i keep playing against plats and diamonds in qp…, when i go into comp i win so easy, climbed 400 points in 33 games, i don’t play much comp, it’s too boring for me.
I am being placed with Masters all the time, it’s not only you my friend. My best guess is that either your QP MMR is higher than your SR or that the game population is on the decline and the matchmaker is trying to find you a match as fast as possible thus placing you with higher skill players.
In qp also it is the team Sr considered. If you are a silver and see a plat in opposite team then your team will also have a plat.
I’m plat, and I play against diamonds and masters in QP/arcade. Even in 1v1s.
It’s the same for all of us.
I’m gold and I keep playing with plats and diamonds, I get happy when i see another gold in the game
I’m a high gold player but I play against a lot of high plats and diamonds in qp
There’s not huge skill difference between the low sr tiers to begin with.
