Would you rather have a good matchmaking system or a leaver penalty? Asking out of pure curiosity and you can only choose one. This is for QP not comp. Don’t let this get heated please
good matchmaking. If the matchmaking is good people are less likely to leave. They might still leave if they’ve got something they need to do IRL, or they dc or whatever, but I think the number of leavers would drop dramatically if the matchmaking was actually good and the game didnt feel like it was decided in the loading screen
a bad match making system is what makes people leave so i’d take the good match making. People categorize leavers as rage quitters when in reality its people who just don’t find the match fun to be in, I’ve been in stomps that were so boring that I just didn’t take part of it, whats the fun of beating a dead horse.
Ranked warrior so I don’t care about either
Leaver penalty.
Many lobby shoppers will leave, simply because they lost first team fight, they are against x hero they dont like, someone is mean to them, etc etc, even though the match could’ve been perfectly matched right from the start.
It’s obviously good matchmaking but I don’t see why I have to choose, even as someone who doesn’t particularly care about leavers. In QP, anyway. Comp leavers can go to heck, darn them!!
If you think about it, leaver penalty is part of matchmaking balance system both technically and philosophically, so I would pick matchmaking balance system as it would favor more harsher leaver penalties too.
Definitely better matchmaking. Personally, I don’t agree with leaver penalties, because you don’t know why someone left. They may have had to drop their game because something happened irl. They may have been disconnected accidentally. They may even be perfectly justified in leaving, such as being harassed or having a teammate who is actively throwing. You can’t just assume all leavers are bugging out because they’re sore losers who give up after getting spawncamped by a Wrecking Ball/Sombra duo and receiving no help from their team eleven times. Plus, if matchmaking is tighter, it should reduce situations in which players would want to leave anyway.
Oooh, good question.
I think everyone wants good matchmaking. I don’t feel most would choose the ‘punish others option’… because wanting to just punish people isn’t very kind.
Unfortunately, even with a perfect matchmaker, we’d still have leavers. And that is a big problem, because people leaving games affects the matchmaker and games anyway (because of ult economy etc.)
I’m going to go with Matchmaking, because the option to improve the experiences of the players sticking out their games outweighs any desire to punish the people who leave theirs.
Good chances are, those are linked. And a competitive game needs both to stay relevant anyways.
A good matchmatcher for sure.
But if good teammates/opponents could leave a game easily, would they be replaced with equally-skilled teammates/opponents?
