The process been happening little by little for awhile now.
But officially today Sega is fully gone.
So farewell Sega.
One last time:
edit: They are removing all the Sega logos starting today from Arcades.
It might not be a big deal here…
But it’s huge for Japan.
edit: sorry if mislead learning this as I making lunch.

PSO2 was a huge disappointment. New Genesis was even worse. I wish we could go back to how PSO1 was and just make a more modern version without all the microtransactions.

They’re withdrawing from the arcade industry.
This thread is incredibly misleading.

It is big. The arcade scene in Japan is pretty big, so it’s a pretty big shock that Sega wants to pull out. I think they’re re-evaluating how they allocate their resources.

Woah, there were Sega logos everywhere when I was in Tokyo (specifically around Akihabara) a few years ago. Will be weird going back and seeing them gone.

Yeah, Sega was known, for years now, for producing video games only. That is not being dead.
Japan was the last country to hold arcade even if it’s bad for making money for years, thanks online gaming at home. Then covide finish it.
RIP Arcades. I wonder which company will lead in whatever remains.
Arcade cost too much for a good maintenance, and rent the hall is also expensive.
Plus you can just build your own machine at home.
I know you can’t pin replies on threads here, but this post makes me wish it was possible.

The Sega stuff extends far from just the machine, they make thousands of different figures /plushies etc that you can get from the machines (grabbers etc)
And not your regular cheap/fake ones you get at arcades in the west, but actual good quality, nice branded figurines. I got some of the Promised Neverland figures they are so nice.

not my picture, but here is an example of the Promised Neverland figures made for some of the Machines.
I assume most people when they think of Sega doing arcade, they think of machines that are just playing something like Sonic lol.

It’s sad to see Arcade scene losing popularity. I used to love playing Tekken 5 at the Arcades in my local town in Australia. But probably because of all the negative backlash from parents on how it causes kids to waste their money, it got shutdown. I’m sure there still are Arcades in the capital city, but in my local town it all vanished.
The thrill of being able to fight someone in Tekken physically is all but gone now.

i really miss old arcade places from the 80s and 90s. i still remember when i saw the first mortal kombat game in a mall. it was right next to the street fighter arcade game and there was like 10 people cramped up around the MK game. i was like meh might as well play some street fighter since no one is LOL

This right here. I knew, checking out the forum, that there was no way Sega just Dies off, not so easily, at least. So once I saw this response, it solidified that I wasn’t wrong. Also, am unsure if this should b a topic worth mentioning about, knowing that it ain’t exactly a chat bout OW, soooo…Idk.
