You really lost the ability to dismiss QP ever since they implemented Role Queue. If QP wasn’t supposed to matter they should have just left it alone instead of adding role lock to make it similar to Competitive.
Goats nerfs was a meta only played in the top 1% but those changes also affects us even tho we don’t play meta. Remember that during goats, the most common team composition on ladder was still Reinhardts 2-2-2. When they nerfed goats for the top 1%. It may have balanced the pros, but ended up decimating the tank population everywhere else and we ended up with Orisa comps because she was the only tank left that wasn’t an ult battery.
They seem to have forgotten that Orisa during dive was so weak to dive heroes that she was called a squishie tank. She pretty much died on sight when a Tracer or Genji was in the same room.
Orisa only started becomig viable when Moira (vs Genji) and Brigitte (vs Tracer) went live.
She isn’t the anchor that counters dive though, Moira and Brig would the ones that help her do that. She would get wrecked pretty quick if she didnt have those two backing her up.
Okay, so Dive (Ball, Winston, double sniper, Moira/Bap, Lucio/Zen) Is a fast comp. Orisa, with Fortify basically making her invincible for 5 seconds and immune to piledrive, slows down the fight tempo to an incredibly slow pace.
If Orisa counters the initial Dive engage, and you still lose the fight, either the Orisa team is really bad, or the Snipers hard carried (which shouldnt happen with Sigma, but w/e). Orisa makes the Dive part of Dive completely worthless.
Now to answer why Orisa wasn’t as good during the actual Dive meta.
Orisa didn’t have HALF her buffs back then and there was no Bap. Mercy Zen were the supports you played and unfortunately, Mercy was very Dive susceptible because she isnt very good at slowing down a fight. D.Va was also busted back then as well.
I’m a tank main in QP. If it really was constantly like that, i’d be solo tanking every single game.
Interestingly, someone actually asked me something like that back before role queue was even brought up. I obliged them and recorded a days worth of QP games, no cherry picking, this was all of them.
Problem is that people see Roadhog and mentally count him as a tank. Even when i’m on support and remembered that there were no tanks, i’d play back the video and be reminded that the 5th DPS was actually a Roadhog. We may not always get the tank we want, but they’re still tanks.
You really can’t dismiss the queue problems we have now in QP after subjecting us to Role Lock.
Orisa was already bad when not played w/ another shield in current patch. The shieldburn and cc immunity on her are the only 2 major reason atm to keep playing her. Nerfing both in 1 patch was not a good idea cuz the balance is already on a brink.
Thats super interesting, thanks for that. Idk if its just my selective memory at work, but I could swear that there would rarely be a game where I didnt get at least 1-4-1 at worst.
I hope Blizzard releases like, a global record so we can see how bad or how good it actually was.
Against double shield? Yes. Was double shield better? Yes. But Orisa Hog was pretty solid through out it as long as the Hog could make it worthwhile.
Since we’re talking about the PTR, they didn’t touch super charger at all, they didn’t nerf her shield (that was before), they didn’t increase her reload speed, they didn’t lower her ammo count, they didn’t lower her projectile speed, they didn’t revert her armor buff, they didn’t reduce the range on halt, they didn’t decrease the duration of fortify, they didn’t reduce the damage reduction of fortify. Plenty of things they didn’t nerf.
You right, either blizzard don’t understand thier game, if they try to get rid of orisa by nerfing everything that she dont care, pull+fortify is her core elements forcing this meta. I think 30% wouldn’t be enough, 25% is when she becomes diveable imo.
