Orisa been my new tank shield and i been getting tips from my gm friend on ps4. I usually get 20 kills average and dance around my shield if needed and even one match 13k hero dmg so i out damaged the dps. I feel i kind get better still. Not bragging, but i am one of the best mercy’s in my opinion however if the team is not getting kills then all im doing is prolonging your death so i am bad with Moira . Any tips on Moira be great
HA, good one.
“one of the best” That’s a pretty big insult to all the pros out there grinding 12+ hours a day.
There are 2 main weakness with moria you need to know when picking her. First, is moria dont have a powerful support ult like trans or nano, so make sure your team has another support that has those kind of ult. Second weakness is moria cant keep up with many other heros that has high mobility. If your team running ranged dps that stay on high ground, you will have a hard time healing them. Also, when your team running more than 2 dps heros, mercy is usually a better pick than moria, since mercy has the mobility to keep up. Play moria when your team running slower tanks like rein, hog and zarya.
Moria:
Stay with tanks heal them
Use your orbs indoors or to heal the tanks.
You can Dps if your behind the tank and if they don’t need any heals
When you dps go after heroes that are already low health
Use your ult for your Rein remember your ult heals more than dps. so try to heal when needed.
Keyword one of the , i didnt say i was #1 and no insults. Also im a 275hr mercy on ps4 however i am learning on pc still as gameplay runs faster on pc so on pc im a newbie and i learn from other pc players.
I have only peaked low diamond mercy one trick with over 350hrs on her. I’m not t500 so I’m not one of the best, even though sometimes I reckon I carry some games, but I’m not up there so I’m not.
Your assumption is questionable.
I really hope you mean one of the best bronze Mercy’s, because you can’t call yourself the one of the best of anything untill atleast high GM, so especially not in bronze.
Disregarding that comment, there’s really not much Moira tips mechanically to be given, as she’s basically auto aim and really easy to heal with. In general focus on healing more than dpsing as moira, as that’s something a lot of people do; frag out but never heal teammates. Next would be orb management. You want to make sure you have orb when you need it. You could use orb to damage the enemy which also will refill your left click heal beam thingy. As for Coalescence, its a fairly quick ultimate so misusing it generally isn’t the end of the game (unless it’s last push or something along those lines) I’d recommend using coalescence as an initiation tool when your team start to engage on the enemy. You’re in bronze, so people may not get the idea to go in when coalescence is up, so communicate that over comms.
Moira heal orbs are borderline OP. Be sure you’re prioritizing them over damage orbs.
Thanks for the info and pc im only bronze. Ps4 usually plat-gold however last season was something else. I seen great mercys even im gold the thing is if the team isnt pushing then mercy can do great and still lose so after wards im like i have to start playing other characters in season 6 OW ps4. Thats what i did and i kinda suck at dps characters (not defense like bastion) so i look at both comps and pick a character i can be aggressive with to push the enemy back. Mei,dva, winston, orisa, sombra , zen are the top with my most hours. Im at the stage again of now i need to train to be a dps so i can fill tjat gap. On pc i solo que so i have to fill any role as i dont know my teammates.
Cmon man. Everybody is titled to an opinion, but nobody is gonna take your opinion seriously when you say things like this.
1: Accept that you suck
2: Accept that because you suck, you have a lot of things to improve on
3: Actively try to improve on those things
4: Don’t blame anybody else for anything. Only focus on yourself.
Admitedly it can be hard getting out of Plat as a Mercy, since in most games outside of bronze you rely on your team to get picks, push on your anitiative etc. But climbing out of Plat is doable, it’s down to your performance
The main Moira tip is save your fade until it 100% must be used as bad Moira player get into a habit of using fade just to move around. At some point as you move up in SR people notice fade is used and the team or player will just kill you.
also her ULT looks like it’s a death star beam of super deathy death. It’s not, it does something like Zarya beam level of DMG if Zarya has zero charge. So would you run around thinking one was all “YEAH!! Take the damage!! Kill you all!!” as Zarya with no energy?
Odds are no, so I’m still not sure why DPS Moira think the ULT is a beam of death. It’s best to be used as burst healing the tanks and bonus DPS on whatever the tank is fighting.
Orisa tips are mostly based around how you use halt and honestly one has to go digging into youtube or twitch vod reviews etc being it’s not something you can really cover quickly in a forum post. It’s a lot of pull people left, pin them to the ground if they are jumping, don’t halt unless you are already shooting where it’s going pull people.
Like you don’t want to throw halt and then start reloading before it even reaches your target.
Most Orisa need to throw way, way more halts.
Yeah no offense, but 275 hours is nothing if you’re calling yourself “one of the best”. Then again time doesn’t mean anything without the skill to back it up, I’ve personally put in close to 1000 hours in this game and am only high diamond. Unless you’re consistently in the top 500 (on pc) for multiple seasons as a soloQ player, I (and most of the community) would not consider you even close to being “one of the best”.
OK let’s just get you in the right mindset first.
You’re not one of the best mercy’s. In fact you’re not even a good mercy. You’re actually not good at the game at all, in the slightest, otherwise you wouldn’t be in the worst rank at the game, almost literally at the bottom of the pile.
I’m not telling you this to put you down, because Even at Diamond / Nearly masters, I am also trash. I’m just less trash.
Now to climb, or improve in anyway whatsoever, you need to take competitive seriously and you need to be consistent.
That’s putting consistent amount of hours into the game, playing with a select group of heroes, and giving a consistent performance.
Tip no.1 for you, in bronze, just pick ONE hero, and nothing else. I don’t care if it’s widow, if it’s mercy of it’s Orisa.
Pick just one, stick with them until you can get a positive winrate (above 52%) And I don’t mean winning 3 games. I mean playing 100 games and winning 52.
If you decide that’s Orisa, I will give you tips, if it’s not, I can still offer some basic knowledge to improve.
Orisa:
I find Orisa is useful in lower ranks because she is good at capitalizing on mistakes and can operate while starved for heals. I decided a season or so ago that I would learn how to main tank, and after about 800 SR of learning from failure, here are the things I think most improved my orisa results:
1.) Have an idea of how you need to use fortify before you are in a fight. You should be keeping track of enemy abilities that are countered with fortify. It becomes your job to actively disrupt Rein charges and that means when he get someone near you it’s almost entirely your fault. Also, people are very disoriented when you use fortify because they were banking on you being stunned/pinned/frozen, so they tend to stand still for a second and are easy to headshot.
2.) Halt is very powerful and should be used off cooldown. Look for positions where you can halt people off cliffs and high ground. Use it to change the trajectory of rein charges and doomfist punches. Also use it to displace people trying to aim. It turns out it’s hard to be a McCree when you keep having your flow disrupted my a robotic centaur. When you halt someone you should be aiming for where your halt will move their head instead of trying to track them through the pull.
3.) Don’t be afraid to trade your hp for space or the life of you squishies. When your shield isn’t blocking damage coming into your team (it’s down, enemy flanked, etc) you should use your body to catch most of that damage when it would otherwise likely hit your team. You could fortify and continue to move through a chock or stand between your Ana and the tracer trying to kill her. Remember that part of your kit is a large health pool and you are not getting full benefit from it if it’s always near full.
4.) Take space when your team needs it. I try to throw my next shield twice as far as I think I need it on attack. On defense I typically start with high ground and call for a rotation down to low ground when the enemy is below us. It’s valid to fortify and walk forward between shields to take space quickly.
5.) Don’t die.
It sounds like you think your damage and kills on Orisa are very good, but these stats are pretty average. In bronze you are responsible for 17 kills and 11k damage. If you want to leave bronze your average should be trending to 21 kills and 12k damage. It sounds like your best games are average stats (can’t confirm because this profile shows very little stats and they aren’t that high). For reference, I am in the same sr ranger and consider ~30 kills and 15k to be a great game. Your k/d ratio is also really bad (>2, it needs to be ~2.5).
Moira:
She doesn’t have much aim, so all her skill is in your position and resource management. Her tips are easy to explain and really you are just going to slowly get more comfortable with her flow.
1.) You need to not waste her heal juice. Remember that you can feather her healing when not in a heavy conflict so that you are taking advantage of her residual healing properties. Her heal juice takes like 8 seconds to reload from empty when you are damaging something, and twice as long when you are not.
3.) Keep track of where the more injured enemies are around you, because you should stick close to them. Might as well get a kill when you are reloading your heal juice. If you are getting very few kills, this is what you are doing poorly.
4.) She’s really good on KOTH maps, so expect around 17k heals out of her on those in Comp. On any map you should be in the ballpark or over 9k healing, if you are not then you should absolutely switch it up.
5.) Mobility is a big part of Moira’s kit. When you use fade carelessly or tunnel too hard for a kill you are not managing your position well. Engage around your team so that you have meat shields at your disposal instead of letting a genji choose the terms of engagement.
6.) A bad DPS feeds by wasting their ult and staggering themselves; A bad Tank feeds by converting their hp to enemy ults; A bad Support feeds by healing teammates that are already going to die. Keep in mind that Moira has the highest healing output, which gives her the highest feed potential.
7.) If you are going to use one orb over another it should be yellow.
8.) You only do 50 dps. Up to about 66 dps if you are using damage orbs well. If you want to dps pick Zen because his maximum output is 299 and he multitasks.
couple moira tips for you
remind your team to push when you have 6 people up as you can’t sustain long as moira on passive teams that take a lot of damage.
only use fade offensively if you are sure you can secure a kill/be safe. Fade is your main escape tool and you don’t want to burn the cooldown to put yourself in an unsafe spot
Tap your heals frequently (dont hold M1) for heals since her heal over time just got buffed too so you can stay on M2 and tap M1 frequently (unless you have to pocket heal or if someone is dangerously low). This also helps you keep your healing resources from getting too low.
Use your damage orbs to finish kills and chase off flankers. Sometimes getting people out of position is more effective than saving your heal orbs (as long as you are good on healing resources).
Many people will say use about 80% heal orbs and 20% damage orbs but this usually depends on rank. You can troll bronze-gold using mostly damage orbs and can easily get 5-6k fights with moira as few dps can hit you
Use her ult whenever you want as you should be able to charge it almost every fight. Make sure you do at least some healing with the ult and use it to pressure people behind rein’s shield or pharmercys. It’s also helpful when you need healing or need to recharge your healing resources
Use Moira’s ult right after Baptiste’s immortality field is shot down
(assuming the enemy team has low health by then)
I never seen amyine with 1000hrs or more on a character
That doesn’t make you “one of the best”.
The real “best” players/the pros have more than that on some heroes.
And again, play time in comp =/= skill.
I think Animetic has around 1000hrs on Mercy.
