Orisa is SO BAD😭

I used to love playing Orisa. I was an Orisa main once. She actually used to feel like a main tank, and those boops were real hard to get but so satisfying.

There’s none of that now. She has the second weakest barrier in the game, as a MAIN TANK. And that’s her only damage blocking ability.

Meanwhile Rein is running around with almost triple that and a faster regen rate, and Sigma gets both a stronger barrier, a defense matrix, and two ways to (partially) heal himself.

I actually dread seeing an Orisa on my team now. She can’t tank, she never did much damage … Having an Orisa these days is waste of a teamslot.

Orisa needs serious help. Pls, I beg of you. I don’t want her to be OP, but she’s literally bottom five of all heroes. As a MAIN TANK. That shouldn’t even be possible when that role is so necessary and we only have 4.

I agree, it’s honestly stupid that she was ever nerfed as she was never OP whatsoever, it was the combo with Sigma that worked so well. IMO the devs should have made some sort of change to the both of them that made them not work so well together instead of just straight up gutting Orisa :frowning:

I enjoy farming people who think Orisa is bad.

Double Shield is gaining traction again at the highest levels of play, so expect nerfs in the future!

There’s a caveat that Rein cannot both have a shield up and deal damage. I am not saying this justifies how bad Orisas terrible stationary shield is but to shed some light on a justification.

She needs extra shield health and less head hitbox she got a nice buff where you can not headshot her while she’s in fortify

I don’t think she needs more shield health. I would choose less shield health but a smaller cooldown period to reposition or replace a destroyed shield.

Also fortify needs to block shatter.

So i guess orisa balance is based on her synergy with sigma

Yep Orisa is kinda struggling. I even met another poster who say they play Orisa in the back line and had better success playing that way.

I’m inclined to disagree, she feels alot more snappier with the CD buff. Shes not viable on every map but she can definitely be run just like any other tank. I play all the main tanks when I play rein I dread fighting good orisas on a good map for her cause she will absolutely destroy your shield before you can approach. I do the same stuff when I feel like playing the battle cattle against a rein who thinks he can push me. Shes not suited for taking a rush comp to her face but she works just fine if she and her team set up to play back and defensive.

Ok, get that, but how can you justify Sigma then? Cause he can shields d shoot at the same time, yet his shield is better than Orisa AND he has a defense matrix + he can heal himself on top of all that.

@McCheese

She has a pickrate on par with Bastion, how can you say she’s in anyway ok. Not even at 1% pick

She needs a stronger shield.

So much yes.

And honestly, I’m gonna get hate for saying this, but Reinhardts shield should be weaker. Because otherwise double shield will return (it already kinda has tbh).

Give Orisa her 900 hp shield back, take Rein down to 1200.

Shes been absolutely horrible for way to long. Blizzard needs to make her a real tank again. Idc about double shield. Address that issue separately. She deserves to have a shield that doesn’t get deleted a second after deployment.

I dunno, I’d have to so some mental gymnastics. Sigma is fun and viable with many co tanks and Orisa is trash unless played with him. They both can fire while shield is out, he has a stun in rock and she has cc in halt, but halt has been trash since it’s AoE was nerfed. Halt is her distinctive mechanic and without it she’s not good enough at anything else to pick over another tank. Sigma stuns, Hog displaces with a stub, Rein blocks better and has a CC ult, Sigma pokes etc. She’s not a jack of all trades and certainly not a master of any either. Flat out she needs a kit specific buff and I think it’s to Halt or a lower cooldown less HP barrier. But I would pick halt.

Can’t comment about the top end, but low/mid rank players are just bad at/with orisa. They play as/with her the same as Rein, which of course doesn’t work.

She’s just as viable as any other non-meta tank, at least up until the top end of plat.

Orisa’s strength is not her ability to soak up damage, it’s her ability to waste other enemy resources before the fight starts. She does this by abusing long sightlines to maximise the uptime of her suppressive fire.

The idea is that you need to make it expensive for the enemy team to get close, so that when they do, your team has more tools to win the fight than the other team does.

Orisa isn’t doing great in the top half the ladder either. I know what she is amd supposed to do. She’s still playing at disadvantage in her current state compared to tanks like rein

I think maybe if they made her more brawly (like they said they did, but didn’t) and made her do more damage, her lack of defenses wouldn’t matter as much because she would be able to take 1 v 1’s and actually win without using all of your ability cool downs and have to wait so long to be able to literally have any impact at all in team fights. Good take

Sure, I wasn’t commenting on you personally. More a general observation on how a lot of people across the bulk of the ladder are just doing it wrong.

Thing is though, she SHOULD be a viable alternative to Rein, just like Sigma is. They shouldn’t be played the same, no hero should, but she should be able to fill the main tank role. But she can’t; her shield is paper.

I find it doubly frustrating because there are so many options to help her too, like:

  • Revert halt nerfs, but make the cooldown longer
  • Put fortify on a resource meter
  • Reduce her ult charge (seriously it’s so expensive for such little effect)
  • Reduce slow when firing her weapon
  • Reduce barrier cooldown
  • Give her more charges of her barrier

… and that’s just off the top of my head, as an ex Orisa player. I’m sure current Orisa mains can think of more

Even an experimental card would be grand
